There's some behind the scenes discussion but let me say without going too far that George is on the right track.
Been a while since we did a good old-fashioned fundraiser, but running this ship isn't free, and Pawtucket has shouldered the majority of the responsibility for years.
Personally, I give a fixed, token amount on a monthly basis and, if a dozen others did the same, Paw would be off the hook financially.
"What happens if" is a question we're going to need to answer at some point as a group.
Hope I'm not out of line saying this, but, I want to donate IF there's a small section for respectful political discussion. I believe we all can learn more from different and opposite perspectives.
PLEASE consider it. After all changes are happening all over every day!
I can talk to the other mods about reviving politics, but the problem has proved to be that neither side has been capable of a "respectful" discussion and it has only gotten worse since we expunged politics from the site.
Further, it is damn near impossible to take veiled political comments as anything other than veiled POLITICAL comments. As someone who is politically savvy, I find the comment "The easiest way to confuse them is to overload them" to be inherently political even though the words themselves are not.
I do not want to turn GSC into yet another political web site. But there are issues that intersect with our mission that we can and should consider.
HOWEVER, now more than ever, politics overlap and run parallel with the main theme of this site. Perhaps a sub dungeon forum could be worth a try.
As a lifelong registered independent and anti-ideologue, I have no dog in a political debate any more than I do in a doctrinal one. But I do find it interesting. Until I find it exhausting.

I agree! Does anyone know if GSC becomes permanently inactive whether the site with all its threads will still be available to read?

Aha! Not just me that couldn't get into the Cafe, then. Been being repainted, or some such.

I’m so grateful for Paw and everyone who makes this board possible. And for everyone who contributes to the discussion.
I donated yesterday.Wish I could do more.

And some things never change all over every day.

It doesn't get much more confusing than trying to explain 4 crucified.

There is no shortage of online venues to sate anyone's appetite for political discourse.
I personally prefer reddit as an option.

Reddit is a great option.

Does the Donate Page's "Irish Eyes" have anything to do with this song - great lyrics and good for an Irish jig.
