Former Jr. Corps member Steven Perez of Family Corps 9 shared a photo album of his recent visit to the Indiana Campus in Rome City. Good stuff both photos and captions.
Oh geeze that was quite a tour! Was in Family 13 when it all came to a head and we left! How sad to see the place in such incredible decay.
I was told by my department coordinator at hq back in 2000 that Indiana Campus was pretty much where a lot of wife swapping and crap like that took place on a regular basis amongst the in-residence corps. He was in-rez there, but I don't know this first hand.
I was in Family 11…given my Roman Catholic upbringing which can make for a very sensitive conscience and the fact that I was so freaked-out-numbed by wierwille’s pajama party / porn video extravaganza – I was pretty much oblivious to any hanky panky going on…but there were a few times Tonto would make mention to me of suspecting certain couples of having an extramarital affair – and I would quickly blow it off in sort of a wierwille-esque-the-love-of-god-thinketh-no-evil-mind-numbing attitude - which probably complemented some Roman Catholic ghost in the machine psychological defense mechanism to safeguard my mind against feelings and thoughts that were too difficult to cope with…Speaking now from a perspective of having removed the wierwille-colored-glasses I don’t doubt there was hanky panky going on but to what extent I don’t know, because that was something that flew under my erroneously calibrated radar at the time…I don’t mean to come across like I thought was a goody two shoes since I never have cheated on my wife – but I guess I appreciate the moral code I grew up with – but more importantly I’m glad I left TWI while I still had a conscience…I’m human and just think the promiscuous and unprincipled mentality toward sexual matters that wierwille promoted to the way corps can wear anyone down if they stick around long enough…you play with fire you’re going to get burnt sooner or later.

The amount of adulatory that was going on is mind numbing. I have spoken to many friend's who's parents were involved in it. But what I saw first hand in residence was our teen slumber parties. Games of truth or dare that went too far. Which teens will do if they're unsupervised but that's the problem. We WERE supervised.
Thanks for posting the pictures, Jr. C Survivor. It is kind of shocking to see how trashy the place looks now, especially after all the hours we spent in-rez cleaning and mowing and cleaning some more. It was weird enough living there as adults, but it must have been so bizarre to grow up in that place.
As for the partner-swapping, I had heard that went on in previous years (we were F-11), but by the end of our first year I remember noticing a lot of sparks flying between some people who were married, just not to each other. Our second year I heard about a couple of F-12 married couples being "discovered", but it wasn't addressed publicly. I just filed it all in my "this is effed-up" file in the red-flag section of my brain.
Anyway, thanks again for visiting the place and sharing the pictures.
(Twinky, when we lived there the grounds were beautiful and the buildings were old but interesting, with some sections really nice, thanks in part to each senior corps being forced to contribute a parting "gift" of a remodeling project, requiring maaaaany late-nite hours of our labor, plus some of our scarce cash).

Multiple examples of inappropriate emotional and behavioral boundaries. None of which surprise me anymore.

Wah, those parting gifts, thank you gifts, and whatever. Give, give, give. Give your money, give your time.
On reflection, I think I did go there. Early on, maybe my first few weeks in-rez, a large chunk of my in-rez corps went to empty and clean out a place prior to its sale and auctioning of contents. We went there with Jacque Horney. It was busy, hard work, and filthy with dirt and neglect and lots of spider webs, but actually it was a very enjoyable and relaxed time. Jacque was quite good fun. Even then, it was nice to be away from the strictness of HQ. I could see it had once been a beautiful place, but outside was beginning to look very tatty from lack of care and attention, and inside was scruffy and looked to be falling apart from damp in places. Not much time to explore or get a feel for what was there.
I remember doing some work in the library. Gail had come from HQ to select any books she wanted back in Ohio. I must have been helping her by marking said books, or similar. She estimated the number of books in the library there as xxx thousand. When the books were all counted and boxed up into non-Ohio disposals and Ohio retention books, her estimate was very accurate. Impressive.

. Family Corps was primarily for couples with children or even older couples. We left in 1986. Lots of wife swapping was typical at all campuses it seems

That is so incredibly gross. It still amazes me that people were so deceived that they thought this kind of behavior is Biblically acceptable. Don't get me wrong, I had my own areas of blindness that other's would be amazed as well with me.

Never went there; looks a seriously ugly place. And unkempt now, though doubtless it was immaculate when TWI owned it.
Thanks for sharing.

Watered Garden
We were in family 20 for about 3 months and two couples got kicked out of F19 for something along those lines while we were there.
