Actually, "Hannie Caulder" was the title of a movie, as were "Myra Breckinridge," "Fathom," and "The Legend of Walks Far Woman." And let's not forget "Mother, Jugs, and Speed."
Actually, I have no idea what you mean. The actress is still around, and still looks great (though I'm sure it's not all original equipment, at this point).
What's to mean George? I had a poster of Ms. Welch on the wall of my College flat. I think it was of her as a cave-woman. The movie I believe was 1,000,000 years B.C. I found the quote you had after posting my Chitty Chitty guess and some reference came up to Mother Jugs and Speed and then of course, I knew who the actor was so, I proceeded to sit down on the bench and wait to get back into the game again.
Name this actor who is classically trained in all of the dramatic arts. He is a film actor, theatre actor in both stage and Broadway, and television. He is an accomplished theatre actor taking the stage 75 times. He has appeared in television over 100 times in different roles. On stage his dynamic persona made him one of the premiere Shakespearean actors of the 20th century. However, it wasn't until later in his career that he was able to translate that same persona onto film. This outstanding film actor has been in over 110 films . He is alive and still acting.
The other two were his characters in "The Sting" and "Blaze"
George
I'm going to take that as a yes Raf and go.

It wouldn't hurt to give a couple of his roles, especially the non-Shakespeare ones.
I give you three character names, you identify the actor/Actress who played them. Or if you're in the mood, give us three actors who played the same role, and we have to guess the role.
Try not to be too obscure, but no need to make it easy. Ready? Go!
John Dillinger
Tom Hanson
James Barrie
This was the first post in the thread. The current round leaves us 3 short of the 3
roles or 3 actors to begin a round. Can we get them?

He was looking for it to use as a clue in a game round a few weeks after he was looking for it. Meanwhile, I hope he posts the next one soon.

Well ... yeah. I was about 15 when it came out. (Saw it a couple of years later, when I was in college.) Fonda DID win the Best Actress Oscar for the performance. George

I think Nathan Detroit may be a Doctor. :)
Dan Aykroyd?

I did a doubletake when I saw the name for just that reason.
Nathan Detroit is not Doctor Detroit.
This is not Dan Akroyd.
AFAIK, Nathan Detroit is not a doctor, he's a "professional" gambler.

That's him.
And I didn't even need to post "Danny Ocean."
I named a few eponymous roles (the character was named in the title)
and a few like "Guys and Dolls" and "Robin and the 7 Hoods".
so I thought this wasn't so impossible.
Quite a few roles were him playing himself or someone named "Frank"
with no last name. (Technically, Cannonball Run 2 had him playing
"Frank" with no last name.)

I'm not sure if "Hannie Caulder" was a character in "Mystic Pizza",
but the eponymous character in "Myra Breckenridge" should be
the woman played by Julia Roberts.

Confused Myra Breckinridge with Erin Brokovich.
Any chance this is Irene Bedard?

I don't even know who Irene Bedard is.
This is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) sex symbols of the late 60's and early 70's.
