Beetlejuice!

Beetlejuice!

Beetlejuice!

George

Correct, of course.

Until the movie came out, I hadn't realized that "Beetlejuice" is the pronunciation of the star Betelgeuse. I always thought it was something like "Baytelghice."

I knew for sure because I'd seen part of the BBC adaptation of the

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Ford Prefect is from the neighborhood

of Betelgeuse. (I'm not sure if I knew before that.)

People considered for the lead role in this blockbuster include Jeff Bridges, Nick Nolte, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Tim Matheson, Nick Mancuso, Peter Coyote, Tom Selleck, and Jack Nicholson.

Almost everyone involved during the shooting of the film got food poisoning, except the director, who ate Spaghetti-Os.

There's 2 correct answers, and I will accept either.

"Cut the cloth, tread on the fat

Leave the bones on the bedroom mat

Pour the milk on the pantry floor

Splash the wine on every door!

Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl

Pound them up with a thumping pole

When you're finished if they are whole

Send them down the hall to roll!"

"Blunt the knives, bend the forks

Smash the bottles and burn the corks

Chip the glasses and crack the plates"

There's 2 correct answers-

one from 1966, the other from 2012

-and I will accept either.

Oddly enough, both versions left out the last line

"So, carefully, carefully with the plates!"

CORRECTION:

There's 2 correct answers-

one from 1977, the other from 2012

-and I will accept either.

The 1977 version included Orson Bean,

Hans Conried, Otto Preminger, Brother Theodore,

Don Messick, and Thurl Ravenscroft.

The 2012 version included Benedict Cumberbatch,

Martin Freeman, and Christopher Lee.

That helps a little, though I don't know who Brother Theodore, Don Messick, Thurl Ravenscroft, Benedict Cumberbatch, or Martin Freeman are.

George

You know who Don Messick and Thurl Ravenscroft are. And if you remember where you

know either from, the format for the first one is obvious- and really limits

the scope of the answers.

Benedict Cumberbatch is Sherlock Holmes in "Sherlock."

(And in ST:Into Darkness, he had a major role.)

Martin Freeman is Dr John Watson in "Sherlock."

Shame on you for missing such a fine show.

The 2012 movie, in particular, is well-known. And you probably saw its sequel.

I watch "Elementary" regularly, but I have not seen "Sherlock." And I feel no less a man because of it. :)/>

So, the newer film also has a sequel?

George

It has a sequel. Technically, it will have 2 sequels.

And some people might consider the number to be 5 sequels,

but that's really a matter of interpretation.

I'm sure Christopher Lee loves the regular work, however.

Fans of the books, naturally, complain about each and every one...

"The Hobbitt"?

George

It is "the Hobbit". The 1977 one was animated, which is why it had Don Messick

and Thurl Ravenscroft in it.

Bilbo Baggins is at home, minding his own business, when he suddenly finds himself

hosting a dozen dwarves for dinner. They give him a scare when he's particular about

keeping the dishes safe, and they sing that song while pretending to be careless with them.

(For the record, mentioning Orson Bean with Otto Preminger would have made me think

of the animated movie.)
