Movie Mash-Up

Recommended Posts

There are claims that there's only a few original stories/movies out there.

If that's true, then, if you've seen the vampires vs werewolves movies,

or the musical with the gangs,

then you might as well have seen this movie, any version by any director.

What is the "original" movie?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you want the first motion picture (which would probably be some Edison quickie)?

Do you want the "original" plot (My guess is "boy meets girl; boy loses girl; boy gets girl back," done by almost every director at least once)?

No,

there's a rather specific, rather famous, story that's the ur-example of the

story that the others I mentioned are based on.

The end credits for this 1978 film cost more than most entire films up to that point.

The lead actor, a relative unknown, was only third-billed in promotional material.

The first-billed actor only appeared in ten minutes of the film. He received $14 million, making him the highest-paid actor in the world, at the time.

This 1996 film produced an Oscar-nominated song and was generally well-liked. It was written and directed by one of the supporting actors, a major star. An interesting bit of trivia: one of the major characters in the film is never named. In fact, at the end of the movie, we get one of those "what happened to them after the story" updates, and this character is referred to simply as "T.B. Player," which is not a name. You realize that when you decipher what "T.B." stands for.

I think I should know this. I like Richard Benjamiin, Susan Saint James too.

Probably from the 70's. I can't think of it WordWolf.

Well, you're right about the decade.

The DVD version removes "I Love the Nightlife" from the disco scene. How dare they?

One line was "What was that idiot drinking? It tastes like the Volga River at low tide!"

But the Volga River does not experience tides, neither high nor low.

"It's OK- I'm a doctor!"

How many movies use a Star of David as a prop in a joke?

This one has some interesting trivia, but little that would not immediately give it away, so, we start with the "those who DIDN'T get the role":

Brooke Shields and Melanie Griffith were early choices the title role.

The role of the witch was offered to Dolly Parton, who said she could never play a witch. Jane Fonda and Goldie Hawn also turned down the role.

Dudley Moore turned down a $4 million offer to play a part. He suggested his old partner, Peter Cook, for another role, which Cook did take.
