Ham
What does a corps grad certificate really "entitle" to an individual, and why? Just what I have observed.. some use it for a few different reasons.. Proof that an individual has survived four (or more) years of hazing, and have acquired the right to inflict the same kind of austerity and cruelty upon others.. A basis for requiring an income and worship from others because one is qualified to do so (j.l. and others) then there are exceptions. A few individuals I know consider the experience to be a small bump along the road of life..
WordWolf
People were sold the corps as both an education for life-a definitive one, and the graduation as a sign of "arriving." It's a rude awakening to be in such a program and realize you're spending 4 years and lots of money for things that should take less than a year to cover. (The "college division" did all the classes in 1.) It's a rude awakening to have graduated a program that supposedly trained you for 4 years as a Christian leader, only to discover you don't know how to actually help people when you graduate- except to redefine what they need and how they can be helped. I can "help" anyone as long as I get to define what "help" is and what the conditions for "helping" are.

outandabout
I found out it didn't entitle me to much, but it did entitle those with a higher position to torment me for life - atleast so I thought until I realized I could leave.
