The success of this indie film-which began on a shoestring budget- inspired a number of other
"found footage" movies in the decade that followed.

LDP plays the street-punk in the class. He gets all the good lines that EJO/Jaime Escalante doesn't get.
To cover up a presidential sex scandal shortly before an election, a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to fabricate a bank robbery to pay for the president's lover's sex change operation.
Two seemingly dumb teen-agers use a time machine to prepare for a history presentation. They bring back a Greek philosopher, an oriental conqueror, and a neurosurgeon/rockstar/superhero with his crime-fighting team, the Hong Kong Cavaliers.

While humming the theme song, I was eventually able to find "China Beach" without cheating.

In this movie, we see the romantic lives of seven different British couples in the lead-up to Christmas,
and an 8th Brit, a bachelor, as he is sent to assist in the defection of a Soviet consulate clerk in Turkey
while avoiding attempts to kill him in revenge for his previous killing of a villain.
(Title-order police, bug off.)

If I've guessed the plot to the first movie correctly, then we have
"WAG THE DOG DAY AFTERNOON".
Good one, BTW.
