I'm prety much a "DC zombie." If it's a Marvel (or smaller company) character, I'm less likely to know it. The only DC-type supernatural movie I can think of is "Constantine," but that wouldn't work her.
I imagine it would have to do with the months-long night in northern Alaska. The title, then probably ends in "Night," but nothing comes immediately to mind.

They probably wouldn't need any more time after the first month....
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to the Center of the Earth
That was a good one.
A typical American family struggles to come to terms with the death of a son/brother and decides that the answer is to eliminate porn from American culture by going after one of porn's most prominent purveyors.

Ok. It's got a lot of detail, so I was confused at first. It sounds like 3 movies or shows because "Big Trouble in Little China" is that kind of movie. While humming the theme song, I was eventual

We're talking an indie publication and an indie movie.
There's a number in the name (both have the same name.)
Why would vampires target victims in Alaska as opposed to, say,
equally snowy upper Wisconsin?

This 1955 (1985?) movie has a student who pretends to be a boy in school to try to prove she's not
taken seriously as a journalist because she's pretty and female.
After graduation, she works in a mission to help drunks and gamblers-
and a gambler contrives to take her to Havana-all hiding he's planning to
use her as cover when setting up a big illegal game at the mission.

It kinda does, but Cruise (as he is normally) is way too tall for the role.

In this book adaptation(s),
A short guy is convinced to leave his comfortable home/hole behind to go on an adventure to find
a less-short person's missing brother,
and ends up falling deep underground and discovering a subterranean realm.
Supporting cast includes Ian McKellen and Brendan Fraser.

The second part might be "The People Vs. Larry Flynt," but I've got no guess for the other part.

There's a clue in the first few words. Break out your thesaurus.
You're right about the second movie.
