Last night, I thought I'd replied because I thought that might

have been the answer yesterday. I'm either getting heatstroke

or dreaming of replying on threads, or just too busy this week.

Sometimes, I hit the Back button instead of Add Reply, so I think I've responded, only to find out that, no, I haven't.

I hallucinate it's my turn, then it's my turn.

This week is getting surreal.

======================

When Deep Space 9 was started, they thought about a specific

TV series from the black-and-white days.

So, we got a guy who moves into a "frontier" area with his son,

and is in charge of keeping order.

What show's concept did they use?

This was the first TV series to have an actual finale, where all remaining plots were resolved.

After the filming of the first episode, the star asked his co-star, "Do you think we will get a couple of weeks work out of this?" The show ran for four seasons.

*wild swing* "The Prisoner"?

Ok,

I've got 2 shows that began as Spanish-language shows

and crossed over to English shows in the US.

Name either one for this round.

This show premiered on Telemundo in 2006 (US-based Spanish channel)

and became it's #1 show. In 2008, a version in English premiered.

The show was a re-enactment of their daily lives at their job-

with, of course, emphasis on the INTERESTING jobs. The actors were

all the employees playing themselves. The company handled repossessions,

generally of cars.

This show was based on the third most famous telenovela in history.

The original aired 1999 to 2001, but has re-aired in syndication starting

in 2009 and re-airs to this day, depending on the country and the network.

The original was from Columbia, and in the US, the original has aired,

as has a Spanish remake and a US English remake. The English remake aired

from 2006 to 2010. It's set in in the NYC fashion scene, and has been filmed

in NYC and in California.

I think that the second one is "Ugly Betty."

These are all cable series which went at least three seasons and ran post 2000. Name as many as you can, but one is enough to win.

1. Four criminals are re-directed by an ex-insurance agent to use their skills ("hitter," "hacker," "grafter," "thief") to obtain justice for people who have been cheated.

2. Witness relocation marshals in Albuquerque.

3. Ex-spy teams up with old buddy and girlfriend to right wrongs in Miami. Eventually gets his brother and mother killed.

4. Secret Service agents hunt down and de-power magical artifacts.

1. Four criminals are re-directed by ex-insurance investigator Nathan Ford (Timothy Hutton) to use their skills ("hitter" -- Christian Kane, "hacker" -- Aldis Hodge, "grifter" -- Gina Bellman, "thief" -- Beth Riesgraf) to obtain justice for people who have been cheated.

2. Federal marshals Mary Shannon (Mary McCormack) and Marshall Mann (Frederick Weller) monitor people in witness relocation in Albuquerque.

3. Ex-spy Michael Westen (Jeffery Donovan) teams up with old buddy, Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell) and girlfriend Fiona Glenanne (Gabrielle Anwar) to right wrongs in Miami. Eventually gets his brother (Seth Peterson) and mother (Sharon Gless) killed.

4. Secret Service agents Pete Lattimer (Eddie McClintock) and Myka Bering (Joanne Kelly) hunt down and de-power magical artifacts.

Ok, here's some cooking contests.

Name any to take the round.

1) A professional chef has a roomful of chefs working in his restaurant,

all trying to out-cook one another over all his yelling.

2) Bakery students all compete in what can be referred to as

"Buddy's Challenge," trying to out-bake each other.

3) First the host, then locals, go to restaurants with challenges to

eat either a LOT of food, or extremely spicy food, in a time-limit.

4) Chefs attempt to out-cook each other, and can SABOTAGE each other with

auction items during the competition- forcing a chef to cook with foil rather

than utensils- or cookware, to interrupt their cooking to perform a task,

or anything else offered to make things more difficult.

Pairs of professional cooks, usually the hosts and a local pair, compete

across a town in challenges around cooking and food, in a race to the finish.

That was fast!

yes, you have the round.

For fun, can you name any others before you post the next one?

I was in the middle of posting this yesterday, and the site crashed.

Anyway, no, I don't know any of the others. My ex-wife used to watch a lot of food shows, so I saw some then, but not for the last five years. Give the other answers, if you wish. I'll give a new one shortly.
