Due to advances in DNA technology, the premise of this show is no longer plausible.
The actress who played a judge on this sitcom played the same role in another sitcom, though neither is a spinoff of the other.
The main actress is PROBably best known for this series. The two main actors are probably better known for other roles, one as a husband, the other as a trucker.
There was an episode about a DNA test, but by then the series was underway. In reality, it's inconceivable this would not have taken place before the pilot episode.
Florence Stanly reprised the role of Judge Wilbur from this series on Night Court because why not.
This show was actually written as a star vehicle for Whitney Blake and her daughter Meredith Baxter, about Blake's own real-life experiences raising her daughter. The show idea was originally shopped around to all the networks back in the sixties, but stayed in development turnaround forever until Norman Lear finally bought it in 1974, at which point, Blake and Meredith were too old to play the parts. Meredith Baxter said how hurt and betrayed she and her mom felt when the show, which was supposed to be their star vehicle, was bought by Norman Lear and cast with other actresses.
All in the Family season eight, episode five, "Edith's 50th Birthday", involved a storyline where Edith battled a would-be rapist on her birthday, which was originally intended for this show.
After being denied a pay raise, one of the main actors temporarily left the show. One month later, producers realized his character's importance, agreed to give him a raise, and brought him back.
The two stars of this live action series did not meet until after the first season had already been filmed.
The lead actor's ex-wife appeared in several episodes. She later remarried: her new husband had the same first and last name as the character her ex-husband played in this series.
The secondary lead actor appears nowhere in the credits. He also appears only once in the series in a brief cameo, not as his character.
That was not a bad guess, but Lou Ferrigno was in the credits and, rather obviously, did appear on screen.
One of the major stars of this show never appeared on screen. To me, that narrows it down to two series, and it't not Charlie's Angels. So think. What show has a star who's not in the credits and not seen?
The stuff with the ex-wife is interesting, but it's not gonna help you because WGAF (who gives a rat's patootie)

I'm not clear what your point is then. I don't think I'm much older than anyone here. I thought the whole point of this game was to stir memories ,and realize-'oh yeah-I do remember that show !' I'm

In the "Jump the Shark" episode of Batman B&B, they go through all of the ways to JTS listed on that website, including having Ted McGinley on! George

C) The DC/Fawcett character must be Captain Marvel, now known as Shazam. I think the show is Beat Shazam George

I think the actress might be Catherine Mannheim, but even if she is, that's all I've got so far.

I should say: The main actress is probably best known for this series, but probably not well known at all.
One of the main actors was better known for a later series. The other was better known for an earlier series.

The character played by the main actress never learns the identity of her biological father.

At last.
Stacey Keanan (who?) played the lead character.
Paul Reiser (Mad About You) was one dad.
Greg Evigan (BJ and the Bear) was the other.

I'm lost, but willing to take a swing. Was this "THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW"?

No. You're not going to make it after all. The first clue would have eliminated MTM.

Correct. ("This Is It" was the theme song.)
I didn't even have to bring up the substance abuse issues with one of the stars.

Indeed. I actually had to wade through a lot of Google entries to find the old series.

Didn't catch the reference to the theme song. Well, I'll muddle through anyway.
