sounds like Captain Video to me. I've never seen it, but some things are just in the brains cultural encyclopedia for whatever reason.
"I, Edward Norton, Ranger Third Class in the Captain Video Ranger Academy, do solemnly pledge to obey my mommy and daddy, to be kind to dumb animals and old ladies in and out of space, not to tease my little brothers and sisters and to brush my teeth twice a day and drink milk after every meal."
I remember seeing it as a kid, but I didn't remember the premise. I do remember LCM talking about it, though, and your description pretty much corroborated his. :)
The show's first theme song was the instrumental bridge of Eric Clapton's cover of "Motherless Children". It was switched to "Hooray For The City" by Jack Mack & The Heart Attack in 1985.
The premiere of this series featured the explosion of a jetliner in a terrorist attack. Then, shortly before it was to air, 9/11 happened. So the producers scrambled and, while the explosion was still part of the premiere, it didn't play as ominous or pervasive a role as originally scripted. Depending on how you look at it, the series lasted "only" 8 1/2 days.
The number 47 appears throughout this series, which is NOT a Star Trek series.
The opening narration which was used throughout Season 1 was literally phoned in. The actress was working on location and had to read it down the phoneline to the producer, who was recording it on the other end.
Much of the show was based around the so-called "Rimbaldi Prophecy": "This woman here depicted will possess unseen marks. Signs that she will be the one to bring forth my works. Bind them with fury, a burning anger unless prevented at vulgar cost this woman will render the greatest power unto utter desolation."
From the beginning of the show until the end, most of the characters worked for three different spy organizations.

I'm not clear what your point is then. I don't think I'm much older than anyone here. I thought the whole point of this game was to stir memories ,and realize-'oh yeah-I do remember that show !' I'm

In the "Jump the Shark" episode of Batman B&B, they go through all of the ways to JTS listed on that website, including having Ted McGinley on! George

C) The DC/Fawcett character must be Captain Marvel, now known as Shazam. I think the show is Beat Shazam George

That's it.

I was right about hiway. :)
Was Captain Video the one with decoder rings?

It had decoder rings, and someone once said they were nicer than many of the onscreen props...

new one-this was a 'game show', where the more the contestant made you pity her, the better her chances of winning a crappy washing machine.

This 80's show was the birthplace of "Sniglets."

Wow. You're going for the really obscure here, if my guess is correct.

Your guess is correct.
Although one had to have HBO to watch the show, it WAS on for about five seasons, so I don't think it's THAT obscure... :)

I hope he goes soon.
I liked "NNTN" and could have gotten it from the reference to
Rich Hall's "Sniglets" segment.

Sniglets was probably the most memorable part. I still remember about a half dozen of them, and they were 30 years ago.

I don't remember the opening, but the rest of it sounds an awful lot like "24."

This one-season sequel followed a popular, long-running show and showed us
how the lives of 3 of the regular characters went after the previous series ended.
(Which brought us to a total of knowing how regular characters' lives went to
a total of 4.)

I'd guess "Archie Bunker's Place," but that went more than one season.

This is AfterMASH.
Trapper John MD showed us Trapper John McIntyre after the war.
AfterMash showed us Potter, Klinger and Father Mulcahy after the war.
(Rosalind Chao's Sun Li was not a regular character before MASH ended.)
It helped us MASH fans get used to the idea the series had ended.
