I had his book "Be Here Now" back in the early '70s and it gave me great spiritual enlightenment for ... oh, the whole afternoon anyway. I don't really remember much about it now, but I know it was popular grist for the counter-culture-society mill at the time.
while i dont fully agree with Ram Dass, and although he is using wildly variable words like "soul" and "God"...i liked these things he said in the interview:
"souls are fingers of God's awareness" and "you're living in your perception, i'm living in my perception, both of them are part of God's perception"
also, in Fierce Grace, he seems humbled another notch by his stroke...and more "enlightened" than before his stroke...which happens more often than most realize.

it was nice to read about his life
yes the fingers of God was something
but the most thing I saw was the willing to try even when he did not understand spirit
it made me think do i really understand spirit

and.. isn't that the whole point..
a dear, dear friend asked me..
"what if you found everything you believed was wrong.."
heh
God's perception..
could it be.. well, wrong?
scary thought..
we tend to be able to live with that..
maybe He does not want to be God..
scarier thought..
why can't I have just a little fun before I die..
not too many options when one is the Almighty..
sorry, just a few thoughts..
