have you heard of Judge Charles Lynch

Recommended Posts

God first

thanks everybody

Charles Lynch (1736 – October 29, 1796) was a Virginia planter and American Revolutionary who headed an irregular court in Virginia to punish Loyalist supporters of the British during the American Revolutionary War. The terms "lynching" and "lynch law" apparently derive from his name.

Lynch was born in Virginia to Quaker immigrants from Ireland. The city of Lynchburg, Virginia, was named for one of his family members, probably his brother John. In 1767 Charles became a justice of the peace of Bedford County, Virginia, but was disowned by the Quakers for taking an oath of office, something Quakers were not permitted to do. His wife Anne Terrell remained a lifelong Quaker, and their five children were raised as Quakers. Lynch served in the Virginia House of Burgesses and the Convention from 1769 until 1778, when he became a militia colonel. After the Revolution, he served in the Virginia Senate from 1784 to 1789.

In several incidents in 1780, Lynch and several other militia officers and justices of the peace rounded up suspects who were thought to be a part of a Loyalist uprising in southwestern Virginia. The suspects were given a summary trial at an informal court; sentences handed down included whipping, property seizure, coerced pledges of allegiance, and conscription into the military. Lynch's extralegal actions were retroactively legitimized by the Virginia General Assembly in 1782.

"Lynch's Law", referring to organized but unauthorized punishment of criminals, became a common phrase, as was used by Charles Lynch to describe his actions as early as 1782. Variations of the term, such as "lynch law", "judge lynch", and "lynching", were standard entries in American and British English dictionaries by the 1850s. In 1811 a man named Captain William Lynch claimed that the phrase, by then famous, actually came from a 1780 compact signed by him and his neighbors in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to uphold their own brand of law independent of legal authority. The obscurity of the Pittsylvania County compact compared to the well-known actions of Charles Lynch casts doubt on it being the source of the phrase.

Roy, for Christians doctrinal deals with the bible. If you are concerned about slavery, and most of us here are, why don't you bring some scriptures to this discussion that people can analyze, instead of only political and cultural history?

But to try to help out. There has been a lot of slavery in history among nations. And it was so prevalent during the first century with the Roman empire having world rule that the apostle Paul himself even went along with it. However, I have never read where the Lord Jesus Christ agreed with or went along with slavery.

Roy, we all need to grow up. Again this is a doctrinal forum. I know you sometimes feel it is beneath yourself to post things in the political forum. You sometimes feel it is the basement. Nevertheless we still have a political forum.

And no, that was not a loving thing you just posted. That was very judgemental.

for Christians doctrinal deals with the bible

not everyone is a christian

doctrinal is not always-and hardly ever about the bible

when scripture is seen in action

then the scriptures, read or not, are seen and understood

well beyond the scope of writings to be analyzed

There are a number of threads here on Grease Spot Cafe with which to post information. There is only one thread for doctrinal content. Doctrinal content does relate to Christianity. If one does not believe at all in God or the bible then why would one want to post in this doctrinal forum?

Roy was being judgemental. I was merely trying to add some biblical content to this doctrinal thread.

No Roy, you read something into my post that was not there. And you can not read my mind.

And Roy, if you are not a Christian then why do you call yourself an Apostel, which is a mispelling of the word Apostle? And why do you always begin your threads with "God first"?

Yahweh shall require of an Apostle, an accounting of his Apostleship! All of this, what does any of this have to do with the gathering together of the body; all functions of the body, shall be held accountable, the gathering together is at hand; so then, Yahweh called you to announce Martindales?

One can be Hindu or Muslim or Jewish or Christian or 'none' and understand Christ.

Doctrinal content relates to everything and can be a wall to gaining Christ.

Or a catalyst to see Christ beyond what is written about Christ.

Taking doctrine out of the way can help to see scripture.

Scripture speaks about certain things.

When those things are seen heard and experienced,

the language of scripture changes and it's meanings have their limits removed.

The Martindale Effect; Martindale did set in motion a bad thing to this body, VPP was called to start, what would soon lead to the removal of that spirit teaching, Martindale chose the glory of the way, and did not finish the job, thus we are in the Martindale Effect, we can do something about it, but Roy, please, can I see Yahweh embrace you someday, please?

Roy, over 35 years ago I tried to tell Martindale the beginnings of the removing of that spirit stuff, but Martindale chose to glory in the way; but you got burned, Martindale will have every every thing in your life, Martindale will be held accountable; but Roy, the gathering together is at hand, dump that stuff, buddy.

Roy, yell out the gathering together call, dump that spirit teaching, it can not be allowed to get gathered up, that is what VPP and Martindale were called to do; but the glory of the way, got in the way; now the body has to choose, that is what the Martindale Effect caused, because Martindale did not listen, Martindale put the body in a bad spot; but Roy, dump that spirit stuff, Yell this call, like the crazy man I know you are, come on buddy, stop spreading Martindales.

Roy, I love to see you stand before Yahweh, as a man called of Yahweh as his Apostle; Remove the Martindales, we are in "The Martindale Effect" Remove the Martindales! Be watchful the gathering together is at hand; flee from the Martindale Effect, get rid of those Martindales. I know the crazy things you can do, come on man, get rid of those Martindales, buddy.

Roy, I am sure that thinking you are an apostle makes you feel good. I want you to feel good Roy, but if you are an apostle, then everyone here on this forum must be an apostle also. Do I think everyone or even anyone here is an apostle? Drum roll please. No, I do not.
