I've seen this story before and checked it out on Snopes, but couldn't find it there, so I don't know if it's true or false.
However - - - since I work with the mentally disabled, I can say that routine (in their lives) is an absoLute GIVEN. Try and do something different, and you'll get a whole handful of "grief" from them directed your way both quickly and emphatically. Meals happen at certain times/ lunch for the next day has to be done at certain times/ laundry has to be done at certain times/ TV shows have to be watched when they are being aired/ etc., etc., etc., and Lord help the staff person who tries to offer something "different".
The "innocence" of each and every client I know, is manifest in more ways than can be counted. They're in their own world and couldn't care less about what others think of them as they act on their own impulses/ feelings/ etc. Totally uninhibited and "living for the moment" in every thing they do. Those of us who are "normal" could easily learn a thing or two from these folks.

Makes me think that some child like faith on my part would be a good thing for me right now!
