Hey, I somehow added a blank tab in windows and now I can't get rid of it. You know, those little tabs that you have your homepage on and 4 or 5 other tabs with favorite websites so you can go right to them?
Does anyone know how to delete a blank one?
When I googled it nothing came up.
It probably didn't come up in a search because you're not using standard terms.
For example, Windows is an operating system (or group of operating system.)
A "window" is a panel on the screen. The web-browser used by Windows is
Internet Explorer (IE), as opposed to superior products like Mozilla Firefox.
In Firefox, those are "bookmarks", and in IE, IIRC, they are called "favorites."
In Firefox, the "bookmarks" (like IE favorites) are in their own menu.
However, you can have a "bookmarks toolbar" always onscreen when FF is open.
I think the current IE, IE 7, allows the same thing- a favorites toolbar.
I will assume you meant Internet Explorer (the web browser), not Windows. I opened mine up to see what it looked like. I have one tab with the default hopepage, and another tab which is blank. I think it comes that way with one blank tab.
The active tab sits "on top" and has an "X" in the right corner. Click the tab you want to activate it, and then click the "X" and it will close just the one tab.
If you want to open a tab from a current one, click the blank square that is next to the inactive tab and it will open a new blank tab.
WordWolf, you are in a galaxy far, far, away--in knowledge FROM ME, but thanks anyway!!!!!!
Yes, Hap, I think it is Internet Explorer. No, I don't think it was there before I clicked the wrong thing one time when it asked me if I wanted a new tab and I said yes and then regretted it. BUT MAYBE IT WAS. WHO KNOWS?????? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Rejoice...what???? I don't understand. Can I get rid of blank tab do you think?
I don't use IE except for Windows Update and Dell Support (because they do not seem to play well with Firefox). I know I have alwasy had one blank tab there as long as I can remember. According to the following article however you can make that tab open to your "home page" (which can be any site you want to make it. I would choose Google, but that is just my choice since I use it most.

Are you sure you added it?

If this is what it looks like-
go to tools/internet options, tab settings
restore default
or however you want the options

wb, please download 'snapashot'. not the pro version
http://www.nicekit.com/screen-capture/best-free-snapshot.htm
after downloading, it is a zip file
1 either right click and click 'extract all'
2 or double click it to extract
3 'extract all' automatically will be displayed in the left task column
using 1 2 or 3-
following the steps provided
do not change any portion of the steps
a new folder will be created with snapashot
in the same folder it was downloaded to
open that folder
no install required
just double click 'snapashot' in the new folder
there will be a resizeable box to put over what you are talking about
make it so it includes all the tabs you mentioned and more if needed
click 'save'
scroll the file type at the bottom of that save window to 'png'
click it
click 'save'
save it to where you can find it
use add reply on this forum to upload the image
fast reply does not have the upload option
add some text like 'picture or screenshot
it will not post without some text in the reply
-anyway----
just want to see what you are seeing
it's really simple to do
just takes a lot of words to communicate what i'm saying here
