Cool stuff. If you haven't been, I encourage you to go to Guanajuato some time and check out the places where these historical events took place. It's an amazing place.
Also, there seems to be a lot of Mexican/Irish marriages. I know a lot of the Irish immigrants who were drafted into the U.S. army switched sides during the Mexican American war, but there's something more to it. I see a lot in common with the Irish and Mexican cultures, although I think the Germans had a bigger influence (at least on their music and their beer) than the Irish.

Thanks! Yes I have been to Mexico a few times. My grandmother was from there and moved to Texas as a young
girl,where she met a married my full blooded Irish grandfather from Kansas.they had 8 sons. When my father was 12
his dad died and she never remarried. They are both buried at Fort Sam Army Post,in San Antonio,Texas
She lived to be 96 years old(her secret was real hot sauce! and Lone Star Beer.)
