He could get all upset about the law because these things applied:
Mt 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Too busy keeping “the first commandment” so that there was no time to begin to think of “the second commandment” below…
Mk 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
But then again, if the gospels don't apply to you, you don't need to know this stuff.
And the OT is "for our learning" (as if that meant something different from, for us to learn from/for our doctrine).
ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God...including VPW. And the sin in his personal camp was egregious. I guess he and the rest of the inner circle used up all the grace that was going (LOL).
Stand in the gap for his people??? Sheesh, I thought that was Jesus' job, which he completed, so that there was no longer a separation between God and man. Silly me -- no, silly VP.
How egotistical to think that you (a man) can take the place of Jesus Christ and do something (stand in the gap) for others when Jesus Christ has already done it.
I remember hearing that sorta crapola from LCM, too.
(Yes there was that one verse in Ezekiel - but why was it blown out of proportion?)
It's really very easy to understand the "standing in the gap" thing if you can wrap your mind around the distinct possibility that der victoid didn't believe his own BS.
That explains why "grace" was used as a get out of jail free card for his lustful appetites. For vp it wasn't about Gawd or jeezus at all. It was about what vp could get away with. The loopholes...
This also explains his love affair with OT judgement - this is how he controlled the masses. Grace was reserved for the ManO'Gawd - but you better get in lockstep with with him or else the wrath of Gawdawlmighty would be upon your head.
Why? I'll tell you why... because the law of believing made us wrongly believe that the creator of the universe was a puppet that we could corner with His own written words and manipulate with that magic phrase, "In the name of Jeezuzschryst." Meanwhile vp was playing ventriloquist as he spoke for Gawd.
Then, went into how he was so upset before the operation because in the old testament the high priest couldn't make whatever--an offering or something--for the people for their sins if he had a deformity. Said they could no longer stand in the gap for the people because the priest was then disqualified because of deformity
Did he REALLY think he was "the high priest"? Or some modern equivalent? It would seem so to me..
Ham, this is the man who invited us to write to him simply addressed as, "The Teacher."
The Teacher? Isn't that how JC was addressed?
Isn't JC also described as being our high priest?
John 3:2
The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Heb 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
