Actually, I've been in more than one church where babies and children are dedicated. More precisely their parents and the congregation as a whole dedicate themselves to bringing up the child "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."
These churches also believe in water baptism but that it is for adults who are committing their lives to Christ because they have been saved of their own accord.
If you follow Kristen's blog, you see a not unfamiliar progression, from abuse to recovery. Her next book is apparently going to deal with the long recovery process.

Exactly the reasons why I for many years felt my experience in corps my final corps residence year didn't mean anything...very mild in comparison, the people involved were good, etc).
