Well, thanks, but I just can't seem to get away from describing the actual plot, albeit in clouded terms. Your initial description of "The Wizard of Oz" was far more clever, because the killings in a foreign land were really incidental to the real plot.
An IRS agent learns the value of a life lived, when life and death are reduced to the most mundane quotients, a novel, a watch, and bavarian sugar cookies.
With this particular thread, I'd use VERY well-known movies. Disguising the plot of a virtually unknown movie is like making counterfeit Monopoly money.
(To be fair, I have no idea how popular "Stranger than Fiction" was, but I can't recall even hearing of it before now.)

Give me a little time. Coming up with oddball descriptions of movies is tougher than it looks!

Sorry. I let this one slip.

No idea.
Which means either I haven't seen the movie, or you've done an excellent job of disguising it!

Sounds like an HG Wells story.
"The Day the Earth Stood Still"?

Nope. "Stranger than Fiction" (I think that's the name of it) starring Will Ferrell, in one of the very few roles that he does a decent job in.

Thank god, Steve! Yes!
I was worried I picked a movie that was too obscure with a description that was too general.
I think its also the only Will Ferrell movie where he doesn't run around in his underwear.

Steve!
"Stranger Than Fiction" wasn't all that obscure - it just came out last year, and played in theatres for several weeks.
Next movie -
"Quartet of mutant freaks prevents brilliant billionaire from realizing his aspirations"

Dang, I made it too easy. I should have said "GROUP of mutant freaks. . ."
Yep, GStG, show us how it's done!
