A man is reunited with his long-lost father, which works out great initially but then turns sour, and the man has to kill his father. (The man who raised the son dies, also.) In the meantime, two step-sisters duke it out, but wind up friends.

This is a recent movie. WW might not have even seen it, yet.

It's hard to think of a "revisionist" movie description. Otherwise, it's just movie mash-up.

Supposed hero repeatedly interferes with a spectacular and ultimately supernatural chain of events he ultimately does not influence.

I haven't seen the movie, but if it's like the TV show, I'll guess

I think I saw this discussed on "The Big bang Theory."

I was counting on that.
If Indy had not interfered, the ark would have been obtained by the Nazis, who would have opened it and had their faces melted off.
As it turns out, though, Indy DID interfere. And the ark was obtained by the Nazis, who opened it and had their faces melted off.

Fair guess, but this movie is much more recent. It's probably out of theaters, now (at least, in the States). You have the correct (general) genre.

OK
"Guardians of the Galaxy II"
For an action flick, it dealt a LOT with interpersonal relationships.
