My entry must be tooooo obscure :( . But it's such a good song! And the video is pretty impressive also. Roger Hodgson after Supertramp...Had a Dream/Sleeping with the Enemy
In this particular thread, the idea is to pick a song that at least a large fraction of the readers will guess from its first line. "Name That Tune" is more for less well-known songs.
Glad to have you playing. Feel free to try the other game threads. I have a thread pinned at the top of the forum explaining how the games are played (Except for "TV Mash Up," which is relatively new. You can find out its rules at the beginning of that thread.

Yes WordWolf, One of my very favorite songs. Hopes the memories are good ones. Your answer, of course, is spot on. Your go!

I agree with you about "Who's Nect" and äqualung". I'm more familiar with The Doors by their catalog than which song is on what album, but I know enough to know you just mentioned "L.A. WOMA

"Learning To Fly", by Pink Floyd.
(Off of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason".)
I have a most remarkable personal story about when that song premiered.

Thank you for knowing, I was starting to feel that I was too obscure.
Must be your turn to post one.
I' love to hear your story.

Ok, the story....
I was taking a plane somewhere, for the first time in memory. (I'd traveled by plane as
a VERY small child, but had no memory of it.) I was a touch nervous and traveling alone.
While I sat in the plane, we had a slight delay before takeoff. I had a Walkman on and
was listening to NYC's rock station, 102.7, WNEW. (It existed at the time.)
They announced they were going to premiere the new Pink Floyd album soon. I figured I'd
miss it and be out of broadcast range soon.
As it turns out, just as we were beginning to taxi out, the DJ announced they were now
playing the world premiere of the first single, "Learning To Fly." As I watched us
approach the clouds and pass through them, I was listening to the lyrics for the first time.
===========================================================
Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back.
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled.
A fatal attraction is holding me fast-
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies.
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings.
Unheeded warnings- I thought I'd thought of everything.
No navigator to find my way home.
Unladened, empty and turned to stone.
A soul in tension that's learning to fly.
Condition grounded- but determined to try.
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapor trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye.
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Can't keep my mind from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
