OK...This is kind of obscure, but when the guys I hung out with first heard this song, this line became sort of a catch phrase. So, I'm hoping someone else had the same reaction to this line, which is spoken as an aside, and recognizes it, as well.
Well, its beatles isn't it! Let It Be album. For You Blue. I've always thought it was a reference from George telling John how well he plays the guitar on this song.

Whew! What a relief to know I'm not a nut case for latching onto that line.
Now, what I find ironic is that George delivers the line, but it's John who's playing the slide part. (Elmore's specialty.)
One of the best scenes from Jerry Maquire was when Jerry (Tom Cruise) found that song on the radio and sang it to celebrate the "signing" of his first client.

Yes WordWolf, One of my very favorite songs. Hopes the memories are good ones. Your answer, of course, is spot on. Your go!

I agree with you about "Who's Nect" and äqualung". I'm more familiar with The Doors by their catalog than which song is on what album, but I know enough to know you just mentioned "L.A. WOMA

I have to admit, it seems familiar, but I doubt I've heard it in decades.

Okay, here's the next clue. It may be semi obscure. Not sure how big a hit it was, but it's been running through my head for about a week now, so...

Don't Take Me Alive! (Steely Dan)
great song
I think this song is somewhat less obscure...
"While the music played you worked by candlelight"

It's best not to use a lyric with the title in it...
"Strawberry Fields Forever"
Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone

Interesting. I've never heard that song before. The Beatles did mention early songs in some of their later ones, though, so I shouldn't be surprised.
Since Waysider got my clue AND yours, I guess it all worked out!
