"Reach out of the darkness" or "Reach Out in the Darkness"? I never could completely understand that line. I don't know the name of the group.

I suppose you could say either one qualifies. The official title says "reach out of" but, the lyric is "reach out in".

I guess I'm up. Let's go with, "I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet. A pawn and a king." Not the first line, but a pretty familiar one.

This was definitely on the pop charts in the mid to late 60's even on the top 40 "bee bop" stations. But the artist is not a rocker. The line I previously quoted is from the "bridge". Here's another line:

"You're ridin' high in April, shot down in May.

But I know I'm gonna change that tune,

When I'm back on top (back on top) in June."
