Received from a friend:

Two moons on 27 August

Of course those with a day job, the 27th is a

Monday night so it may be too late for you to stay up and see this.

27th August -- Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.

It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will

cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth.

Watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am.

It will look like the

earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in

2287.

Hey there Kit. :)

Sorry to say -- I heard this too, and it isn't true.

It would have been neat to see, but it's not going to happen.

SNOPES

(I heard this on a talk show I like to listen to,

and the host was enthusiastically promoting it).

He got several calls immediately from folks who either directly

(or indirectley), were involved in astronomy,

to let him know this won't be a happening thing.

He (the host of the show) --did some checking,

and retracted the story,

and all the accolades he had said about it.
