some "rock officianados" credit this song, originally released in 1955, as being the "official birth" of rock'n'roll................i don't agree with that opinion, but, i gotta admit that it did begin to open the doors for the "bastard child of the blues" to become accepted into the musical "family" of the more "cultured" music that preceded it.........whatever opinions folks might have about rock'n'roll, nobody can deny that rock'n'roll is one of america's most lasting contributions to the worldwide music scene............as american as the blues and jazz, and, like it or not, at least as "influential" to music history as both its previous "truly american" musical relatives!..........just my opinion..........peace.
another one of rock's "progenitors" (sorry Strange one!..........LOL)..........and, one of Katrina's many victims!.......his house, located in nawlins' "infamous" ninth ward, was a true museum of rock'nroll roots...........totally destroyed by the levee breaks that devastated nawlins after katrina had her way with the city...........fats barely made it out alive when he was evacuated after the floods basically submerged the entire ninth ward..........his gold record collection, along with his famous white grand piano, was wrecked by the flood.........but, fats survived, and, through various benefits and other contributions, he is restoring his ninth ward home, and plans on moving back there...........but......i hear hurricane gustav may be headed down katrina's path..........hopefully, that won't happen.............in the meantime, enjoy some of "the fat man's" tunes!
SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!!!!!.............PLEASE!!!!.........OK...........i'll stop after these joizy boys!..........but we have'nt even touched motown, all the great "girl groups" like the shirelles, the ronnettes, the shangri las, and groups like the drifters, the beachboys, and.......and.......and........then, the british invasion groups.......and on and on and on............oh well..........guess i should just break down and buy an ipod!!!!!!............but, before i finally shut up with all these "roots of rock" tunes.........one final selection from one of the greatest rock'n'roll groups ever............these guys took me from 5th grade through junior high!..............thanks for the memories!..............
LOL EXCIE!!!..................45's!........remember how many we had???.........i didn't start buying albums until the beatles came out in 1963 here in the states!........i remember my folks "naggin' me" to clean up all "those damn records" from my bedroom floor when i was 10!.......you too??.........i literally had hundreds of 45's, until i "moved up" to my album collection which i sold for corps sponsorship!#@! it sure is easy to get lost in youtube memories sometimes ain't it?............sorry for all the posts!.........guess i just got on a roll!.......................remember then!
and waysider, oh man, here's the wonderful guy i grew up with. my sister and he were in love for years. i still have their prom pictures. and i was best friends with his sister through HS and listened to those drums ALL THE TIME i stayed over.
