Great to hear some Miles ...I just read the other day that Dogfish Brewery is releasing Bitches Brew Beer in honor of the 40th Anniversary of that Miles album-

Here's Jesse's older brother Shad, on the fiddle.
Shad (short for Shadrach), is one of the premier fiddlers in Nashville (these days).
I remember hearing Shad (and his brothers) picking this tune back about 25 years ago, and they did it just as good as NGR did.
And Shad had all of the Sam Bush licks (on the fiddle) down, even back then.

and yes - - - John Cowan was a member of NGR (New Grass Revival) from whom Garth Brooks got this song. :)
Garth used the New Grass Revival on his recording of it. And in his words:
"There's no finer pickers on this planet, than the NGR".

geisha, I love that song and always have! Here are some interesting bits of info:
The Mary Tyler Moore Show theme song was written and performed by Sonny Curtis...
Sonny Curtis at one time was a bass/rhythm guitar player in Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets...
In a song called "Buddy Holly" by the group, Weezer, the chorus mentions both Mary Tyler Moore and Buddy Holly.
This is all true, though I don't know if it means a gd thing. :)

PS--there was some talk a few years back --someone who loved Simon and Garfunkel (Pawtucket maybe??).
I'm not all that sure, but apparently live performances by them are sort of rare.
They are coming to my hometown this summer if anyone is interested ...
