Okay, don't laugh-----but, my very favorite song ever since I was a very little girl has been Moon River----Elton John, has been my favorite anything since 3rd grade----I have always been a nearly fanatical and very faithful fan(Even in TWI)-----so, Elton John singing Moon River-----I love it!

The pink coat just makes it complete!

actually prefer Andy Williams version, though I heard Mancini play it on the piano without lyrics

I love old traditional songs that pass through the folk process, that grow, develop and change over time.

Here's a song you've all (probably) heard a million times-just not quite like this.

Im partial to this version--the guitar work and style intrigues me.

Rising Sun Blues

I never appreciated Elvis when he was alive. . . I love some of his songs now.

Since I was in the area I went to Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo last week. Its almost like a manger scene there--the entire house is about ten feet by ten feet. The elvis chapel on the proprty was the best though--along with the piped in Elvis gospel songs there was a stained glass window that had a picture of Elvis instead of that other "King" you usually see in church windows.

I have an odd sense of humor but it got me to chuckling...

They were both worshipped and adored, both were seen of many after they died and their messages werent really all thatfar off..

Jesus: Love Your Neighbor

Elvis: Dont Be Cruel.

I didnt apreciate him when I was younger either--Maybe now that Im older I can apreciate his impact a little better and some of his stuff I really do like now

Great songs.

Geisha, if you like Elvis, you might enjoy the movie "Mystery Train" (1989). It takes place entirely in Memphis.

Elvis isn't really in it, though. Only his ghost.

Or not. It's kinda weird.

:) Thanks, sounds good. Not really too much of an Elvis fan .. ..just a bit intrigued by the whole Elvis thing. . . and I like a few songs. I am Facebook friends with a woman claiming to be Elvis' half-sister. She had enough DNA evidence to have the estate of Elvis' father, Vernon, reopened. . ..unprecedented. . ..fascinating stuff. Of course, I think she is a bit nutty, but fun to watch from a safe distance.

I am also friends with very good people. ...and there is even a Yankee's fan on there. :)

Here is a good one by Crosby, Stills, and Nash....no Young.

Song of Love-Rebecca St. James and opening theme song from The Monkees. talk about diverse interests-CCM and rock/soul/pop music from the 50', 60's, and the 70's. Also pipe organ and sacred choral music, orchestral, Sousa, Spike Jones, Victor Borge, and Peter Scheckly aka PDQ Bach. no wonder I am such a nit case. eh, the squirel isn't around, is he? :biglaugh:

mstar1, this is pretty freaky: I was going to post that song last night! The only reason I didn't was cuz I was looking for the studio version but couldn't find one, so I decided not to post anything. (Not that the live versions aren't great.)

I love JH. We saw him a couple of years ago with the North Mississippi All-Stars as his backup band. Great show.

This is one of my favorite songs..

Here you go Thomas. ...my kid knows Rebecca St. James and last night he met Stephen Colbert. LOL :) Who, BTW, still teaches Sunday school!

Wow Colbert teaches Sunday School?

now THAT would be fun!

I was fascinated by this crosscultural style afew years back--Paul Pena a blind blues musician who had learned Tuvan Throat singing...as documented in the movie Ghenghis Blues--He passed away in 2005---I met his one time beau last night--who reminded me of his unique style..

I suppose if I ever find myself listening to blues in the far reaches of Mongolia it will sound something like this:
