Pretty cold. But then, we still have cock fights in deep pockets of the South where roosters with razor blades attached to their feet attack each other. And in the name of sport. Folks bet on which rooster will kill the other.
And then we have people blowing up other people in Afghanistan and Iraq because of religious differences. My point?? Mankind is still pretty brutal. Why don't all we nice people find ourselves a place we can live??
sudo (remembering what happened in Salem Ma. when the Puritans tried that)
Another fine example of another sick and twisted culture...
This kind of stuff is what makes me agree with Ann Coulter that we should conquer the world, impose our way of life and spread Christianity wherever there is a breathing soul.
I work with a guy who's here on a green card from the Philippines and we talked about this sort of thing the other week. He went on to describe with glee how they skin and prepare their dogs and cats before they cook them, most of the time while their still alive...
and I told him to his face that he was SICK, and that I hoped that when his green card expired and he was finished making his family back home rich from sending his paycheck home tax free, that he had BETTER BECOME A LEGAL CITIZEN AND ASSIMILATE!!!!
Needless to say, he no longer speaks to me, but I don't give a rat's behind. I know Koreans who do the same thing. One was locked up here in Virginia for eating his dog and his defense was "cultural insensitivity".
Dogs are a different kind of animal. They have feelings. They love. I believe God blessed them special for people. This is so ungodly I can't even read the above posts. My dog's soul purpose in life is to love. Damn these people to hell. That's where they belong.
I agree w/ you totally. I'd love to see them try that with my German Shepherds...
How we as a society treat animals is disgraceful. And we will all be held accountable for it too. For that, I can't wait. Not something St. Francis would condone for sure.
It's a life-changing book. Its a beautifully written and very powerful book and shows how man is abusing his stewardship of God's creation. That's my shameless plug.
My Army Chaplin turned me on to this book when I was going through my training as a veterinary technician last year.

I understand RottieGrrrl... really I do... but they have been raised in a totally different culture and belief system.
the folks in India that worship the cows... the Hindus? ...they probably feel the same way about us...
Tom, I really have a hard time reading the story on this, but aren't these peoples pets they are beating to death, right in front of their eyes? From what I remember this had to do with some rabies outbreak. So this is their form of animal control? To beat a beloved pet to death right in front of their owner?
As I said, I really did not read all of the story, I just can't. But if you are going to kill something there has to be a more humane way. And I don't think they should be killing these animals at all. If things got this out of hand with rabies it's the damn people who need to be educated.
What these people are doing is evil. This is not how God would have people handle the situation.
When different "culture's" belief systems are whacked out, that's when they need to be educated and hopefully they realize their thinking is jacked up. There's no excuse for this. This isn't a "cutural difference". It's insane cruelty. It's the same excuse the jackass I worked with who ate his dogs used.
Why do we even eat cows, chickens, or dogs and cats? Red meat is one of the worst things you can eat. Ask any cardiologist or nutritional scientist worth anything. Just go check out a factory farm or a veal processing plant and see the conditions there. It's enough to make you puke and never touch the stuff again.
I'm starting to go off in another direction with my rant here, so I better make my opinion/point here before all of you go to sleep 'cause of my complaining...
ok...My whole point is educating people that there are other humane ways and alternatives to handle things.
In my opinion, this is just sick. This has nothing to do with different cultures and belief systems. This is just an example of no compassion at all.
I agree. Of all the animals I've been around only dogs seem to really love their masters. Those who own cats (who really owns a cat?) or horses or what not might disagree. Growing up we owned cats, had horses, had a hamster, an Easter chick, a duck, a bunny rabbit some goldfish and even a snake.
But its my considered opinion that dogs are very very special. They get so excited when we get home and even if we have had a bad day and shoo them away, they cower wondering what *they* did wrong... shaming us for our behavior. And I gotta' tell you that if there were any myth I really wanted to be true its "The Rainbow Bridge". I'm not ashamed to admit it... I start crying when I read it.
In my opinion, this is just sick. This has nothing to do with different cultures and belief systems. This is just an example of no compassion at all.
Agreed totally.
And Sudo, Rainbow bridge has made many a grown man cry. I remember showing it to a guy once and he started getting tears in his eyes reading it and I will never do that to a guy again with me in the room.
Does communist China have Veterinarians??? Or are they only just good at math?? Is this the “cost effective” measure they consider humane euthanasia???
What happened to the superior communist/socialist economic and social philosophy????
Rottie, I think three people got rabies and yes they killed people's pets. They would make noise then the dogs would bark and they would go into people's homes and tell them they could kill their own dog (and had to pay to do so) or they would take them and club them to death. And did.
Under Mao I think he did not allow dogs either
So, let's buy pet food from them....

What a great idea, maybe we can all chip in and buy an island?
It is so sad the Chinese even went into homes and grabbed pets and clubbed them to death

Sudo-I did not know of the razors -- maybe we can have an allie allie in free day and wipe out the cruel and heartless.
(For anyone monitoring from an agency -- I say this in jest to push a point)

My parents went to China and saw skins of dogs and cats in the trash cans behind resturants. So, they went to the golden arches.

A good book for anyone who loves animals is by Christian author Matthew Scully, at http://www.matthewscully.com
