And I hope you understand the allegorical implications of the lyrics.
For what it is worth -- those two pieces were performed by New Grass Revival.
Also an offshoot/ splinter --- from the Bluegrass Alliance, back in the 1970's.
I don't expect any comments on this thread, but I may get a few.
To me the songs say it all. I've made my comment.

David, could you consider redoing your links. Both of them only led me to a home page and when I did a search for the particular titles the links point to, I get no results. I'd like to hear the songs.
Well, thanks to ITunes I was able to find These Days (by Jackson Browne). Beautiful song. Can't locate the other one though.

The link in Sushi's post worked for me.
These Days is one of my all time favorite JB tunes!
Thanks, guys!

Yes, I followed Sushi's post but I didn't recognize who the artist was. Doing a search on ITunes located it pretty quickly for me. It is a very nice song.

You certainly don't owe ME an apology, but I sure thank you for the great link!
It's been very good for me to listen to a few of the songs there.
I'm sorry that you weren't respected by CES. You've earned my respect, I know that much.

Tom -- despite my well known propensity for levity ---
THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE TIMES.
I'm doing some soul searching here --
And I thank you in advance -- for taking the time to realize that.
(not p!$$ed off -- but thought this comment appropriate).

That's why I asked Shellon the question.
I understand where you're coming from, never doubted it.

Dave,
I have a preference for original singer/songwriters. I thought you might like to hear how this is SUPPOSED to be done, by the guy who WROTE the song.
I'm going to post two versions. One is the way most have heard it (assuming they have) and the other is an acoustic version.
Original HERE!
This later version appears on the "Jackson Browne, Solo Acoustic Vol. 1" cd (with intro, thought you would enjoy it, being a musician and all )
Intro HERE!
Song HERE!

Did I somehow offend, D? It certainly wasn't my intent. My apologies if I did.

Sushi -- You've never offended me. Your humor and insight are seen in every post you make.
I thought this thread was dead, so I never bothered to look at it,
though I did tonight -- since it was near the top of the page.
As for the word *Apology*, in the title --- I don't/ didn't mean it as saying "I'm sorry".
The sub-title (greek for discourse), was meant to mean "This is my take on things".
Songs seem to say so much. I used two that I thought reflected my take on life.
Both from the past, and then again from these days.
I got burnt by twi, but I Held to a Dream (first song).
Due to what is going on with CES, got me thinking about These Days (second song).
As I said, I have (at times) difficulty collecting thoughts in a coherent manner, for posting.
Too many variables coming at me all at once, too much to think about, which to address first.
that sort of thing.
So -- no -- no offense taken. Like I said -- I thought this thread was dead. ;)
Excie -- thank you. :)
I've heard it said "3 strikes, and you're out".
I got one strike with twi.
I'm thinking I may have got a 2nd with CES,
but the *instant replay* is (as of now), still under review.
I've one strike left, but I still have the bat.
Don't worry about me.
