Well, I'd have to vote "wrong", as I don't know as there ever was any time when Wierwille and his minions had any goal in mind other than serving their own bellies. Ever wonder why VP really got his walking papers from his denomination? I'll bet it had nothing to do with poor 'ol Vic just wanting to "do the Werd".
He pilphered Leonard's class in the early 50's, likewise several other men's books a while later, and ALWAYS had a real penchant for fast living and expensive toys. So he sold some Bible blather now and then. So what?
Of course, superstition in whatever form doesn't impress me much anymore, no matter how holy or noble one perceives it to be...
I think at times we wrestle with the 'twi was a good place until' thinking ...
and the ... 'TWI was no good cause VP was self serving and a million other things' because we confuse TWI being a good place with good intentions with... TWI having good people sprinkled throughout.
Yes, it is undeniable that TWI had some wonderful people who wanted to do the right thing for people and do the right thing in God's eyes. But did you ever notice how these well-meaning individuals never lasted long in TWI. They were either heavily scowled upon 'til they changed (for the worse usually) or they just left.
Yes there were some genuine Godly people. I think that's the only reson I stayed as long as I did. That's what fooled me. Then I saw most of those people leave, and it got me thinking. First the system started to suck the life out me and second I saw more loving people outside of the way than in the way.

I gotta go with George on this... I think it was that way from the outset.

Totally agree, I think the good intentions only lasted for about one day.
