and then towards the end, these words of profundity from the alleged "idiot":
I don't reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy. You been real square-dealin' with me. The Bible says two men ought not lay together. But I don't reckon the Good Lord would send anybody like you to Hades. That Frank, he lives inside of his own heart. That's an awful big place to live in. You take good care of that boy.
Of course Raf, it's Sling Blade...
I don't know about the rest of you but I was very pleasantly blown away by that movie... it was just a story about a few days in the lives of a few people... the cast and their performances were just one of those times when everything comes together and something really special is made...
This is an EXTREMELY well-known movie with a big name director and big name stars. Not considered an "old" movie, but older than many of us would like to admit.
I'll try to put you all out of your misery. Is it "Raider's of the Lost Ark"?
Oh, did you hear about the idiot who released two rattlesnakes in the theatre during the playing of "Snakes" in Phoenix? Enough to ensure I'll wait till the DVD comes out.
Voilà ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

I'm guessing that WW won't mind my adding a clue: the movie starred Danny Kaye. George

Once again, you posted a quote from a movie, where you could have posted 1/2 the script without me getting it, except for the one quote you posted. This was from early on in "Red Dawn."

Tom - should you say it with some throaty grunts between some of the words?

Some folks call it hell. I call it hades.
Some folks call it a fun loving cult. I call it a soul-sucking vortex.
Some folks call it a Kaiser blade.
I call it a bagel cutter.

Lesser known quotes from a movie I'm 95% certain you've all seen.
"I oughta kill you right now."
"Not a very private place for a murder."
****
"Your persistence surprises even me. You're going to give mercenaries a bad name."
****
"Surely he mentioned there would be other interested parties."
"Must have slipped his mind."
"The man is nefarious."
****
"He said you were a bum."
"Aw, he's being generous."
"The most gifted bum he ever trained. You know, he loved you like a son. Took a hell of a lot for you to alienate him."
"Not much. Just you."

Tom's clue gave it away, but I wouldn't have gotten it from Raf's quotes.
And yes, I did see the movie.

I knew it had to be one of those "Ark" movies.
