I don't know about disinterest (though I have seen a drop-off in posts on this thread as well as Name that Tune and Movie Pictionary), it could be that no one knows the movie! Without googling, all I know is that it's an old movie about a submarine. Nope...but at least you are giving it a try. I tried not to make it too hard...as I said it is a movie I have seen. So you (and anyone else if around) deserve a plain clue. The movie's title has in it the name of a disagreeable place to which most people at some time or other are told to go.
Since I havent been on much lately, I forgot that when you post a flick question here, you should hang around to monitor responses. besides, I had the feeling that no one who stops by here was gonna get it. I thought it would be easier. Maybe I am just too old. But I HAVE seen it on cable TV in the last year or so.
Richard Widmark, Victor Franken, Cameron Mitchell...and one of the 3 American movies in which Bella Darvi appeared.
A scientist (Franken) hires an ex-navy sub captain (Widmark) to investigate suspected Communist nuclear activity. They discover a plot to start WW3 by dropping an atomic bomb and blaming it on the U.S.

I'm guessing that WW won't mind my adding a clue: the movie starred Danny Kaye. George

Once again, you posted a quote from a movie, where you could have posted 1/2 the script without me getting it, except for the one quote you posted. This was from early on in "Red Dawn."

I'll give a little more time for others, then I suppose I'll have to give more clues. But it is THE quote from this movie.

"Each man has his own reasons for living, Mr. Jones, and his own price for dying"
Allright, since I may not be around for the weekend or a bit longer...
The movie was made in 1954. And most of it was set on a....well, I think we have someone around here (is it Galen?) who used to serve on one of these.
If anyone gets it and is sure of it before I get back in a few says, go for it.

Am I just too old for everyone? Or is it a case of disinterest?

No problem, Lifted. I'd have gone on to the next one, but we've had a little hurricane fatigue going on here...
New quote:
"Do you know how to use that thing?"
"Of course. The pointy end goes into the other man."
and...
"The lady and I were trying to dance."
"You were trying. She was succeeding."

"I hope you do. This is not between you and me."
"Maybe not,
but if I catch you on the street,
I'm gonna kick the sh* out of you."
"Now you got a ticket to watch the show."
"You only see the turn. You don't see the road ahead."
"I may be a sinner, but I'm willing to pay for my sins."
"Right. See you at three."
"We're gonna need a lot of Kleenexes...there's gonna be a lot of bloodshed."
"You're like a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there!"

"There will be no free rides, no excuses.
You already have two strikes against you: your name and your complexion.
Because of those two strikes, there are some people in this world who will assume that
you know less than you do. MATH is the great equalizer.
When you go for a job, the person giving you that job will not want to hear
your problems-ergo, neither do I. You're going to work harder than you've ever
worked anywhere else. And the only thing I ask from you is 'GANAS'- 'Desire.'
And maybe a haircut.
If you do not have the 'ganas', I will give it to you because I am an expert."

Right.
I knew Raf knew this one before I started, so I was going to save this one
for when he was out of town or something.
He was nice enough to give it a pass.
So, Pirate, please take us home.
Besides, my last quote was gonna be the locker one,
and that's up.
:)

BTW,
I love this movie, and wish more people saw it.
