You know, a lovely lady I met at a "fancy-dress" party once offered to travel with me to Madagascar, but seeing as I just met her and I had a job, I thought we might want to get to know each other first. Instead she hooked up with a two-headed, three-armed dimwit with a space ship.
"I see twenty-six blatant health code violations. TWENTY-SEVEN!!"
"Grand Central Station. It's Grand... and it's Central."
"Dagnabbit! I missed the express! Looks like I have to take the Stamford local."
"It's a cookbook!"
"I like them, I like them! I liked them first! Before I even met them I liked them! As soon as I met them I liked them right away! You hate them compared to how much I like them!"
"A philosopher once asked, 'Are we human because we gaze at the stars, or do we gaze at them because we are human?' Pointless, really...'Do the stars gaze back?' Now that's a question."

Crimson Tide?

I'm guessing that WW won't mind my adding a clue: the movie starred Danny Kaye. George

Once again, you posted a quote from a movie, where you could have posted 1/2 the script without me getting it, except for the one quote you posted. This was from early on in "Red Dawn."

Sorry.
"Thank you for the cookies. I look forward to tossing them."
"You could be a boxer or something. I could be your manager."
"No, I could never fight for money."
"Well that's fine. You fight, I'll keep the money."
"Excuse me? Excuse me. Never sleep with that man, never loan him money, and never believe a word he tells you. That's free advice."
"Morning, Agnes."

That's it! (I think)... I had the same feeling, but about the second group of lines...

Gee, and I didn't even give the "I thought I was looking in a mirror" line.
You're up, WW.

I channel-surfed past "Twins". I didn't see any of the quotes, but it put the name in my head while I was trying to remember
who said that line.

If it were only the first line, I'd say "Batman." But the sum of the parts compels me to guess
"The Untouchables."

The first line DOES evoke Batman, and IMHO, was meant to be a shout-out.
This is neither Batman nor The Untouchables.

It's neither the recent "Hitchhiker's" movie, nor the BBC one from back when.

I first heard about it when discussing the famous "it's a cookbook" line with someone-
who then said it was used in "Madagascar." The lemurs were used to the fossa attacking
them, and one lemur held up a book titled "To Serve Lemurs" and announced,
in horror, "it's a cookbook!"
BTW, the monkey that uses sign language-he's using REAL sign language.
When asked to read a shipping label for some penguins, the speaking monkey
says it says "ship to..."
but the signs begin "'Tell the tiny pea-brained birds that the sign reads: Ship to ...'"

now I remember!!! Stardust isn't it? A most excellent movie for young and old alike!
...and if I'm correct, could someone please take my turn?
All I can think of at this time is "Stripes" and "Caddyshack" stuff...
(I am quite the intellectual aren't I?)

Stardust is correct.
First line is the first line of the movie, spoken by a narrator.
The second one is when one brother tries to poison two others but is thwarted in a four-way toast.
