Okay, who saw Bruce Almighty?

Recommended Posts

It was so darn funny!

Know we can debate much of the Bible and pick at it, but all in all I thought it was great.

The only line that got me was when God said "All you people keep doing is looking up."

But in the context of getting involved to be a part of a miracle I thought the message was a good one.

I am still laughing!

Thanks for your comments about this movie.

I like Jim Carrey's stuff, but I was leery of the title.

. . . My response will be forthcoming because I will go see it, now!

Thanks, again, Dot.

Sincerely and hopefully,

Yes, I thought it was going to be making fun of God or something, but my sister saw it and said YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!

He gets the power. Ya know how many times people tell God "I could do a better job than you!" when they are angry?

Well, let's see how well a person does....

That is kinda the premise.

I rocked in laughter when the prayers started rolling in.

I liked it, I thought it was one of Jim Carrey's best performances to date.

It could have been so much better if a few flaws had been fixed:

1) Bruce's life is not that bad to begin with. He has a good job and a gorgeous girlfriend, but one bad day totally flips him out.

2) It would have been so much better if God had given Bruce a set time limit for his omnipotence, say, seven days, instead of leaving it open-ended.

3) The third bit I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it, but it has to do with the big turning point.

Still, I'd give it a good A-. Carrey reaches a good balance between sharp humor and his typical rubber-faced slapstick cariacatures. He's learning he doesn't have to rely 100% on d*ck and fart jokes the rest of his career.

The fool hath said in his heart, "PFAL is the Word of God..."

I thought the ''looking up'' line was priceless....after all...how many people blame God, i.e. look up, when they themselves are the ones who can make a difference???

I could just SEE God ROFL when I heard that line.

I saw it and it was what I expected it to be.

A light comedy with some romance sprinkled in

to give it a happy ending. I must say that I did not engage in any "rightly dividing" or worry about how they were portraying god. I gave that up long ago.

Still I know some exWay people who've been

out for over a decade who will get huffy about

how "inaccurate" the movie is (or feel it to be).

I remember when "Oh God" was out with

John Denver - boy oh boy they had to have

some special teachings on that to talk about

how wrong it was and how God would never

appear to anyone except under certain

circumstances and how it was obviously devilish

and the screenwriters were possessed, etc.

Some folks are determined never to have a

good time I guess
