I use mine for work - I work from home. I also try to copy every cd I buy and just listen to the copies, keeping the originals in their cases neatly stacked on shelves. Music is very important to me, so I treat my cds like albums.
I use my computer to stay in touch with almost everyone I stay in touch with, since just about everyone I know has one now.
I pay most of my bills online.
I play games once in awhile, but mostly I use it for work and social contact.
I like cman better, can't put into words why, but I'm glad you switched.
I use pc for those things such as keeping in touch (KIT) that others have addressed.
Primary is Bible stuff. It is so easy to find verses, words, etc. Of course just reading a book is comfort to the soul, but I have like 10 versions I regularly query, plus the Greek and Hebrew stuff. Very thankful for this.
Also the budget / finances, personal and for Fred's business.
Remember the green ledger sheets and adding machine tapes?
...shopping - especially this time of year - as I HATE malls. It makes comparison shopping very easy.
...selling - eBay, Craig's List (www.craigslist.org).
...music & entertainment - and dump it all to my iPod - I love my iPod.
...learning & reference - gotta Google!
...socializing - like now.
...teaching my kids - my oldest is a little tech wiz and very adept for his age (5) on the computer already.
...getting my news and weather.
...scheduling car repairs - I have a Land Rover and they email me when my car is due for something. Which is all the time lately.
Besides, I even met my husband via the internet - Waydale!
By the way - I wanted to add that my computer allows me to be a stay-at-home-mom now. If I didn't have it, I would have to work outside the home. I work outside the home now by choice, just to keep my retirement up. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it at all!
I can check things at work with it. (Saves driving in the middle of the night)
I have the majority of my CD's on an external drive (almost 20,000 songs)
I do all my photo stuff with it.
I do all my video editing with it.
I record all the GS Radio Podcasts with it.
I store cat noises on it and use them to find my cats.
I can communicate with my TIVO like device and watch a show that I taped on my computer wirelessly anywhere in the house.
My arsenal includes a 20" Imac G5, 17"Imac G4(the one where the base looked like half a baseball), PC 19" wide monitor with a 2.4gig P4 and a 17" powerbook laptop.
 I never thought I'd admit to anyone... but I used to do that with one of my cats... I had a wav file of a cat meowing and would play it when I couldn't find him... he'd come running every time-- sucker... :)

I use it to communnicate with people, to exchange knowledge, and to have fun.
Often, the fun is in the communication and knowledge exchange.

Jim - you sound as bad as us -
I have 3 PCs, 2 iMacs, and 1 Apple Pismo.
(2 PCs and 1 iMac are finding new homes this month - this is getting nuts!)
What do you do with a DOS notebook?

I do about the same stuff as the rest of you. I also make it my business to keep up with Strange Tom. He seems to need the added oversight!
