Yeah, violence over a game system seems a little overkill, to say the least. My son and I were talking about it this morning, he's finishing a degree in digital animation arts next year, and he was giving me the rundown on PS3 - according to him there are quite a few features that make it superior. Their site gives more information for anyone else not familiar with it.
He had a friend offered a similar price on the way out of the store Friday. Daughter says they're going for 2500 on eBay now. Probably will go higher. And they run about 500.00 bucks off the shelf.
It's like when the "Tickle Me Elmo" first came out on the market a few years back and were so d**n hard to get cause they had a shortage of them. People were nabbing them as fast as they came in the Wal-Mart here in SW Iowa.
I saw a flyer of someone that had 2 or 3 of them listed in a "for sale" ad for either $300 to 400 each.
To me it's all a part of what some people will do to make more than a few bucks.
It might be real, Krys, but I'd bet it was a planned shortage, at best. Even if it wasn't, once more of them hit the market, the inflated prices will come down.
Sony does this with every new "version" of Playstation that they release.
They build a real/imagined "instant demand" through advertising and word of mouth over the web and they're never able to meet it... (but they know that)... I think they just get some sort of perverted jollies watching all the gamers go into a feeding frenzy...

I am guilty...........................
Got 2 of them. Haven't listed them yet. I don't play them.
We looked at it as a little Christmas "investment. "

What's funnier, Danteh, is Elmo is back this year, and some people are giving them away with the Playstations!
My brother bought them for $90 each, and he can't sell them yet or he'll lose money.
I was never much into Elmo........

Tom is right. The price will drop after the artificial "shortage" is over.
You don't want to get stuck with a Beanie Baby "investment." :)

Yes, thanks.
I am putting them on this week.
It was the first crazy thing we've ever done, aside from leaving the Way.........................
oh wait, maybe that should be ''joining the Way".........................

I'm not really convinced the shortage isn't real. Anybody want to change my mind? I'd appreciate it.
