They deserve it. Nobody thinks of Rutgers when they think of fine football teams but they have had some great upsets over the years. They even beat Tennessee back in the late 70's or early 80's. They have a great coach who has been able to recruit fine players over the last, like, 4 years and now its paying off. Go Rutgers. Hee-hee! That just seems so strange rolling off the tongue.
Did you know that after WWII the Ivy league schools (who Rutgers plays) were the powerhouses in Football? And Army and Navy? I remember when the Army-Navy game was a big deal. Things change.
Fellow I worked with for many years was the original Scarlet Knight! He is putting together his memoirs and send me a copy of the original news paper article and photos of him in full regalia.

Yes it was, ex. Rutgers beat Princeton 6-4. The game was much different from modern football, but it's what led to the game we know today.

i live about 20 minutes or so from rutgers depending on time of day
a few of my sibs graduated from rutgers. my nephew is there now. my sis and her husband graduated from princeton.
we're just really happy about their victory
army-navy still gives me the chills
