People outside the LDS faith are fixated on the temple
They don't understand
that the LDS chapels are where Sunday worship is held
It is where the sacrament is given
It is where Sunday school is
the relief society Etc Etc.
If you are excommunicated you can't teach, you can't offer prayer, you can't hold a calling
In other churches this may not seem a big deal
but in LDS Church'sall adult members are regarded as roughly the equivalent of ordained ministers
ANY woman can be made relief society President
Any man can be called as a bishop or a stake president
Anybody can be called as Sunday school presidents
ANybody can be called as anything at any time.
High school students attend four years of Seminary every morning before school.
In countries where Proselytizing is only allowed to be done by ordained ministers-those years of seminary count just like going to seminary to be a Lutheran pastor or Catholic Priest.
To be excommunicated in the LDS Church has the same effect as a Catholic priest being defrocked.
You are no longer allowed to Serve in any capacity
Not Tithing keeps you from the temple
excommunication restricts you to being an observer of the lifeblood of The church as opposed to an active participant.
Excommunication is the result of Sin--adultery, criminal offense the like.
What is sin to a Mormon?
Is sin based on the 10 commandments, and are there more amendments to what sin is?
Who judges and condemns sins?
If the truth where to be known about all LDSers {sin free}, would any be allowed in the Temple?
Where is the reference to becoming Gods of other planets written?
Why didn't the Apostle Paul know this, and if he did, where is it written?
Not that I would want to wrap my head around another telephone pole of thought, but it's sounds as though LDS have many incentives in becoming and staying LDS without all the hangups other works based denom's have, especially for the males. Maybe a little fear, but just a little. More of a Ronco Religion, but wait there's more!
I mean you know disrespect.
I, like Danny, had only the first installment of "show 'n tell".
Is sin based on the 10 commandments, and are there more amendments to what sin is?
Yes sin is based on the ten commandments, as well as what was revealed to the other prophets of the Bible, revealed by Jesus Christ, and by the apostles in the Bible
Who judges and condemns sins?
Heavenly Father
If the truth where to be known about all LDSers {sin free}, would any be allowed in the Temple?
Being 100% sin free is not a requirement for being allowed to go to the temple-else, as you pointed out, none of us would be able to go
Where is the reference to becoming Gods of other planets written?
It was given in a series of revelations to the prophets of the LDS church
To be honest, lds seem to contradict themselves quite frequently...your quote about ex -lds'ers having the 'audacity' to speak for Jesus as to who is worthy etc.. yet on the other hand 'active' lds'ers are able to 'assure' themselves of a place in 'mormon heaven'.
Also, extraneous 'revelation' given only to their 'man of God for that day and time' is surely on the same plane as 'revelation' VP or LCM claimed to have received ?? What's the diff ?? To be fair, LCMs' VP's 'revelation' seemed to be a helluva lot more 'plausible' !
To go upon anothers 'revelation' as from God to you.
Is quite the mistake.
We learn from others but the Holy Spirit teaches you
Couldn't agree with you more.
What makes everyone think that LDS as individuals have not had the Holy Spirit confirm what is revealed to our prophets?
The following has been taken out of context by those anti-LDs sites here is the true story.
President Brigham Young once annouced at a conference that all things the prophet says should be prayed about by the individual as to the truth of what was presented. Later in the day he made the statement " the moon is made of green cheese and men in black top hats live there."
The next day he asked "how many believe that the Moon is made of green cheese and men in black top hats live there? everyone but one older gentleman raised their hands. President Young then asked "how many prayed about it?" THe only one in the gathering who raised their hand--you guessed it--the older gentleman who had not raised his hand previously.
LDS really wish that other demoninations who obeidently follow whatever they hear from the pulpit, without checking in with God first, would stop tarring us with the same brush!!!

.
Okay, let me say this slooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwlly
GOD determines who goes where in heaven
Jesus Christ is the only one who gets to select who goes to heaven
we as mortal man can assure NOTHING
Also, extraneous 'revelation' given only to their 'man of God for that day and time' is surely on the same plane as 'revelation' VP or LCM claimed to have received ?? What's the diff ?? To be fair, LCMs' VP's 'revelation' seemed to be a helluva lot more 'plausible' !
On the same plane does not mean equal value.
Revelation about Jesus Christ, heaven, and righteous living
is Not the Same as
claiming that Adultry with the MOG, false interpretation of scripture, failure to pay employees adequate wages and a host of other evils is okay
Or put another way"Satan's trick, is not, getting you to believe the counterfit is genuine, but getting you to believe the genuine is counterfit"
You do remember this quote, don't you, Allan?? who said it, where it came from ???
One of those things that I continue to find useful and true..................
Why should we accept the words of your prophets over the Scriptures? Could they (prophets) have been influenced by something other than godly thought.
Why do you believe in polygamy when Scriptures show that it is to be one man one woman in marriage. Can't you see how destructive the kings got when they added wives to their families.
And how does your celestial polygamy jibe with Jesus who said there won't be marriage in heaven?
Aren't we told not to add to the word, yet you have your book and the prophecies?
You can believe what you want, but don't drag Jesus into this because he had nothing to do with your religion.

Well I think all religions can be a stumbling block to knowing God.
To having his Christ work within.
If a religion forbids other religions from the same blessings,
I'd say a change should occur.
Out of all I've seen the Hindu Faith is the most universal in practice.
And this is nothing against you templelady.
How you found and got involved and why with LDS.
Is your business, as well as staying with it.
Problem is that people are putting Christ in a corner.
And saying well this is hoiw it was set up and this is how God wants it.
To go upon anothers 'revelation' as from God to you.
Is quite the mistake.

yeah well i believe everyone is going to heaven
some will have more hell then others to face
cuz no 'man' can see God and live
so many things must die and and change
and though lcm and vpw may have 'tasted'
they certainly did not go any further
to compare lds and the way
is quite silly
they each have their own whatevers
differences can be seen
so can likenesses
don't make em the same
vpw lusted to be as big as lds
and despised God at the same time
what a mixed up fruit
besides his obvious hatred of eastern religions
