Name that Star Trek Episode

Recommended Posts

I don't think we posted rules in the first post of this thread.

I shall recap.

All the "NAME THAT" threads follow a few simple rules.

One poster posts quotes.

(And occasionally adds trivia if the quotes are too hard.)

The quote-poster---and ONLY the quote-poster- gets to look this up online,

and that's so they make sure they're quoting correctly.

Everybody else -the GUESSERS- have to go from memory only.

If you look it up, you've volunteered to sit out guessing it.

Once someone guesses the answer correctly (usually waiting for a confirmation),

it is their turn to post quotes.

And so on.

Posters are allowed unlimited guesses.

(However, dozens and dozens in succession would probably be unfair to everyone else

trying to guess the same song. Be reasonable.)

Generally, I try to post more quotes every 24 hours if no one has guessed the correct

answer. That's not a rule, but it's fair in my opinion.

That's it.

On this thread, we're limited to the live television series',

not the books, movies, or the cartoon.

Since I'm pretty sure I'm right (though that line could have been used elsewhere, as well), how about this:

"My lady."

"You've put on weight, and your hair is going grey."

"My deterioration is proceeding apace."

"I thought you would be in your grave by now."

"(laughing) I shall endeavor to die this year if possible!"

George

Any hope for another quote here?

"What's going on?"

"Haven't you heard? The wedding's off!"

"'Off'? Why?"

"She says it's because he's a pig-headed, stubborn man who puts tradition before everything else. He says it's because she's a frivolous, irreverent woman who refuses to take him or his culture seriously. You can see the problem."

"Huh. They're both right."

"Exactly."

"My lady."

"You've put on weight, and your hair is going grey."

"My deterioration is proceeding apace."

"I thought you would be in your grave by now."

"(laughing) I shall endeavor to die this year if possible!"

Oh!

"You Are Cordially Invited...."

The Worf/Dax wedding.

The only episode with a Klingon wedding ceremony in it.

Correct.

I really loved Martok's discussions about love and marriage. After his wife gives him the "You're fat and bald, why aren't you dead?" spiel, he turns to Worf and says, "Isn't she magnificent!!"

Incidentally, you didn't mention that it was DS9, though anyone who knew who Dax was would have inferred that.

I still love the vision that O'Brien and Bashir have while enduring torture on the

Path to Kal-Hyah, which they thought was going to resemble a human bachelor party.

"I can see it...I'm going to kill Worf."

*both chanting* "Kill Worf...kill Worf..."

=======

Ok, different episode.

"I lost a bet."

"If I leave town, the town leaves with me."

Then I'll keep quoting until something becomes clearer.

"I lost a bet."

"If I leave town, the town leaves with me."

"Hiya Doc. What's cookin'?"

"Y'know, I had some trouble getting through. Where's Captain Picard?"

"He's on ice."

"Pardon?"

"He's being grilled."

"What is he, a fish?"

""Helm, take us out of orbit. And Mr. La Forge?"

"Yes sir?"

"Step on it."

Okay, I don't remember the title ("The Big Goodbye," maybe?). The Enterprise has to make contact with a species particularly picky about protocol, having done something unmentionably vicious to the last group who had tried to meet with them and inadvertently misspoke a word or two. Anyway, Picard decides to unwind in the holodeck with a Dixon Hill story and is joined by Data and Dr. Crusher. I forget what ensues in there (safeguards get messed up?), but Picard gets out just in time to make it to the bridge and recite a particularly guttural greeting to the aliens. He hits it, and the aliens welcome the Federation. The "Step on it" line is the end of the episode. (Right after Data, also still in costume, begins to recount the adventure: "It was a dark night in the city by the bay...")

CORRECT!

The idea was that the Stardates suggest this episode comes after the one where the Bynars "upgrade"

the holodeck, and that's why this glitch happened.

Did you catch the Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre homages in the episode?

I'm also thinking the mysterious item Dixon Hill was supposed to have found was a statue

of a bird.....

I was going to add a quote about the aliens that had to be greeted in a few hours, to try to make this

a bit fairer.

And yes, he "lost a bet" and was wearing his Starfleet uniform.

But the episode IS "the Big Goodbye."

Are you warming up for a trivia contest or anything, perchance? :biglaugh:

"I assume your hand will activate the door whether you are conscious or not."

"To try or not to try. To take a risk or to play it safe. Your arguments have reminded me how precious the right to choose is. And because I've never been one to play it safe...I choose to try."

"What about you, Commander? What do you see as the most important example of progress in the last 200 years?"

"I suppose the warp coil. Before there was warp drive, humans were confined to a single sector in the galaxy."

"I assume your hand will activate the door whether you are conscious or not."

"To try or not to try. To take a risk or to play it safe. Your arguments have reminded me how precious the right to choose is. And because I've never been one to play it safe...I choose to try."

And just to clarify, I'm thinking of the one where Max Headroom shows up on the Enterprise pretending to be a historian from the future, but he's actually an inventor from the past out to steal some toys.

It's a next generation episode.
