Thank you so much Ted. Your posting made me teary. I love that song too. I'm so glad that she is ready and at peace. That's what makes a person's passing so much easier. I pray that she will have a good and easy death surrounded by those she loves and that love her.

I knew what song it was before I heard it also. I was in 6th grade (guess that makes us about the same age Hiway). I was coming in after lunch & there was a tv on in the room. Then the teacher came in to explain what happened and how it might effect us & sent us home.

Boy, does that bring up memories. We were all told that Betamax was the wave of the future. All video material was in beta only. Mine is in some landfill along with my 8-track. All music written in a minor key is devilish. I definately remember this one. I was told to get rid of any classical music that might have some minor key in it, cause it could infect my house.

Wonder what would happen if you gave them a fake name, told them that you ran across the website and wanted to go to a fellowship? Then they couldn't look you up on the puter. Just a thought.

I think it's just that some people hate being caught in a compromising position and have to place the blame. (did I say that )

You know something that I noticed when I started going to a church was the love for the family and how they actually helped others. They take up a collection each month for missionaries (Nobody ever gave us anything when I went WOW.) We have a pantry for those that might need some food and a fund for those in need. You can teach him to fish, but it's hard for that person to learn if they are too hungry to concentrate. If we are a family, then family helps each other when they are in need.

The coal mines used to have company towns where the coal mining co. would control where you live, where you buy (the co. store) and then lock up the town (literally) at night. As far as contacting HQ and getting a local meeting, I remember a gentler TWI that actually used to give you the name/# of a twig (or limb). I did that several times when I moved during the early 80's.

It's been awhile since I've left, but I was in for about 20 years. I understand where y'all are coming from. Like they always said in TWI, it's a way of life, but it's because they make it your whole life. I was lonely after I left for good (left a couple of times for a short time before), because besides going to work, there really isn't any life outside of the ministry. Absolutely everybody in your social circle is in. When you leave, you are M&A and all your "friends" are instructed no longer to be your friends as "your devil spirits may infect them." But life goes on and if you stay strong (remember you still have God on your side outside of TWI), you can see that the more than abundant life is that much more abundant without the scrutiny of TWI. It was hard to find a church that I wanted to go to, because I would keep comparing the teaching to what I learned before. But, as was taught in the old Orientalism class, I just say, "Mind don't think that, think like this." --> My children and I are extremely happy now. And I even have something that I was told I could never have; a pet. But not just any pet, I have a cat. At least during the early days, it was taught NEVER to have a cat as they can be possessed faster than any other being. That is why witches use them. (Never did hear any scripture back-up on that one.) Oh well, just rambling now.

Are you young and still live with your family or are you an adult on your own? It would be easier if you are the later.

One that stands out in my mind was the time that we didn't have any money for food. We prayed for money so that we can buy food for a few days. Then, I remember about being specific. We really didn't need the money. We needed food!! So then, I prayed for food. The next day somebody gave one of us big bags of veggies from their garden! If that wasn't God, I don't know what is?

I looked and got hooked by that brownie smothered with chocolate sauce and topped with ice cream. (I'm a softy for anything chocolate. It is in its own food group, isn't it?)

The only ROA that I attended were in Sidney & Lima. I stopped after that. Was there ever one where it didn't rain? I don't remember any. On one of those occassions, I don't think I had a tent and everything got wet. We did have fun back then (then of course, I was still young). I loved hanging out with friends that I knew (or met) from all around the country. That was the magic of ROA (including of course WOW burgers).
