There's nothing nice about a cat 5. Even though she's moving away from us, since we are on the eastern side, we're still getting the outer bands. Texas, my prayers are there for ya.

Plenty of batteries in all sizes. You'll need them for all the flashlights, radios, and other battery-operated necessities. Lots of drinking water. I usually get a case of bottled water in the begining of season for this purpose. The stove & dishwasher are great places for storage. For the most part, they are water-proof. As far as the electric, turn it off at the breaker box. Then you'll be safe in case of a surge.

Ok Raf. TD 18 is to become Rita. We are in it's cone (time for another thread). It looks like right now that she's supposed to go into the gulf.

When I saw this cone, I figured that us Floridians weren't going to be affected (What? No hurricane party?) We'll wait for the next cone Raf. What's her name going to be? By the way, what about that possible tropical cyclone between Puerto Rico & Florida? That one looks closer to you or is that just going to be a flood event?

I think there was a tv show about that one once, wasn't there? I used this one the other day: I'm late to work because there was a mother heron and her chicks crossing a busy 6 lane road.
