Hello Everyone! Well it sure have been busy around these parts lately! Chatty...I'm still trying to figure out who is that playing on that song you posted along with the Elton John one. Can't be Miles Davis... he played trumpet. I'm pretty sure Charlie Parker played Sax (no time to google right now) ... maybe him??? But it almost sounds like it was an ensemble of saxophones only. Gonna get hubby to listen to it..he might come up with something. OK... as far as your theme .... the older one that Moony knew... I have no clue  The other theme that I think Wasway posted... is of course the Drinking Establishment in Boston theme. A certain clutzy psychologist ended up with his own show from that one. I always thought his brother Niles was a hoot - lusting after the british house nanny. (who by the way was the virgin in one of the most famous Seinfeld episodes...you know, the one about what you do when your 'ALONE'!! I digress... please apologize. Cowgirl...so glad you enjoyed that! Bluzie, Have no idea who that hippie chick celtic singer is?? But that brings me to my next theme... I was just waiting for someone to mention CELTIC... and so... if I drive you crazy in the next few posts...well just blame it on Rick!!

George, Thank you ... I thougth there was someting wrong. Your picture is much more the Bailey I knew...far more wholesome looking like I remember her.
-
Wasway, Thank you for correcting me there. My boo-boo... don't know where I got the idea that Winwood was associated with Genesis. Maybe it was Mike and Mechanics and Winwood having hits in the same time period. Not sure???? I've been known to bouts of confusion...ask my husband! : ) Thank you again for straightening it out for me!

Sudo, Hee hee hee !

IIIIII'mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!! Ok...this is Moony's fault...she should have never mentioned her love for Bluegrass. Now I'm on a Bluegrass Feast. This group HERE is a group called Old Crows Medicine Show. These are a young bunch of guys that hail from Nashville. They have certainly captured a very 'old time' sound. And this one HERE is one of my favourites. I read that Norah Jones performed this song at a Tsunaime relief concert. Quite a feather in their cap! This next group I discovered this summer. These ladies hail from Vancouver B.C. and have the most haunting but interesting sound. They have been described as gothic folk... a term I've never heard of before. Yet, they certainly border on the bluegrass feel of things. Just click HERE and HERE and give a listen if you're in the mood for different. ...and MOONY...this one is for you. Click HERE and enjoy. Have a wonderful Friday.

Moony, I'm sorry... didn't realize you loved the stuff. At times, I feel it's an acquired taste ... and not everyone fancies the stuff. Didn't mean to leave you out sweet Moony. :( But now that I know it... I'm going to play some for you too ... I promise. Ya, Nickel Creek are pretty darn good! I have their first 2 albums. They then changed producers and I haven't heard any of their stuff since. I played that one for Cowgirl because she is very much a mandolin enthusiaste. I'll get it straight... I promise I will. By the way...Goodmorning everyone! :D

All this talk about Cowgirl's post got me thinking about Genesis...so I thought of other members of that band and their solo careers. This is the bass/guitar player HERE Mike Rutherford with one of his songs. His albums were produced in the 80's and the band was called Mike and the Mechanics. Wonderful stuff they did. Actually, this is a poopie song compared to some of the other songs he recorded...but this was the only one I had in my library. :( Now, there is this guy HERE. He took over the lead vocals when Peter Gabriel left Genesis, and they haven't looked back since. This tune is him and N' Sync from the Disney Tarzan movie. It's called Trash N' The Camp. Now I apologize for the my choices here...they're the only ones I had in my library... but just the same... they're good tunes. He won an Academy award for this one HERE. OK...I couldn't resist... this one HERE is for Cowgirl. I believe this is Nickel Creek...but I'm not 100% sure. If it is... these albums were produced by Alison Krauss. Nighty night all!

Chatty, Ok...the first one... is Elton of course...but never was an Elton fan. He was the rage when I was in high school, but I couldn't get past the glasses and the shoes. That was me...just more of a country bumpkin' I guess. And the second well...I'm lost. Wasway... the first one you played... was referring to Cowgirl's post ... so I'm assuming it was a Genesis song. The second one... have no clue The third one was a gimme. I really thought that show was funny. I'll never forget the episode where there was a bomb threat in the building (so they thought) but it was in the radio tower. They had sent the two DJ's to the tower so they could continue their programs... anyhow...the police run out to save them from the exploding bomb...and blond guy DJ (can't remember his name at this moment) panicked and thought the phone police were after him because he had smashed the telephone there to smitherenes 'cause he missed putting in his off-track bet with his bookie. I don't know... but it struck me so funny... PHONE POLICE...

Cowgirl, Nice to have you Back In The High Life again... wowza...beautiful song... had this album... I can see why you would love this song... with its beautiful mandolin instrumentals This guy sang with Genesis... and put out this album while still with the band... Also, I thought it was cool that James Taylor does background vocals on this song... listen and you'll hear his distinguishable voice... Actually the whole album is fantastic.. i must get this one back in my library! Thanks Cowgirl...it was so beautiful to hear. OH... George... you weren't serious were you? I don't mean to sound insulting.. I was just thinking maybe you were making a joke.

Mr. Tuttle, I salute you! That was PERFECT!!! Thanks for bringing a chuckle to my day.

and..here's the speech he gave after receiving the gift they presented him with! Note the spontaneity in which he is able to bless the household with YET... ANOTHER TEACHING!! Begins with Don Wierwille reading the card that came with the gift which was a Native Chief Soo Headdress. ...This man chief among us will not be moved. He is a stay to his tribe, the household of the faithful... YOU"VE EARNED MORE THAN WHAT IT REPRESENTS. god bless you. LCM is presented with a SOO Chief Headdress for teaching the WAP class. LCM comes up to the podium: “Of course growin’ up in Oklahoma, in the Indian nation and heritage there, it was part of my background. But then again it’s interesting it was Dr. Wierwille that really got me interested in studying and reading more about it and appreciating it because of this appreciation of the Indian tribes that inhabited in Ohio and indeed right on this here Wierwille farm property, Way International property where Indian tribes camped and lived which he used to talk to us about. And like he also taught me admiring the positive traits, obviously there was a negative side to it. A lot of spiritualism in that with. I learned to enjoy in observing for the most part the positive sides of it. Their self sufficiency, their courage, their training and their loyalty to their different principals and of course their beautiful garb that I’ve learned to enjoy so much. It’s quite unique, quite lovely and I’ve had some knowledge over the years that each feather represented a specific act of courage or a wise decision that a man would earn and be given these different feathers. Of course it has the bone chest, the dove on the necklace. Boy, it’s just elegant, that’s just lovely. I guess he’s staked also there. That’s nice – having something to put it on – I couldn’t wear it everyday (HAHAHAHAHAHA). It’s a real honour to receive that. I appreciate it deeply. Thank you very much. It’s a privilege.” FINALLY!!! After 5 minutes of blither... he thanks them...but barely!!! Another case of blatant 'it's all about me' syndrome!

Wow Pirate...that's impressive! :o Sudo...You have such the sharp ear there sir!! Marie Osmond...so close...it was actually Blondie! Moony... Glad you are enjoying the music. And I must say...I'm having so much fun!! Ok...a request... yeehah...MY FIRST!! :D Yes, it's cold here too! Snow, wind, rain...just all round yukkie!! I found a few COLD songs for you... and the funny thing...they were both written and sung by Canucks! Go figure I guess they know something about living in the cold I guess. This song HERE is called 10 Degrees and Getting Colder. It's sung by a very famous Canadian Icon. He's been around forever and has written some of the most beautiful ballads. I could go on and on and on. Don't get me started This song is a very early Lightfoot song. My favourites were his early recordings. 1960's and '70's. Gordon Lightfoot was born and raised in Orillia, Ontario. This next lady HERE is amazing. Joni Mitchell. She is a legend. The little girl with the whispey voice from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is a true musician ~ though these days she spends her days painting and enjoying her grandchildren. Her music stands on its own. She is said to have her own guitar tunings ... up to 12 different ones. She said she used to fool around 'til she found the sound she liked. Quite a lady. oh...this recording has a few glitches in it...so don't think it's your PC .. sowwy.

Do you remember the first time you decided to turn off your brain?
A la prochaine replied to tonto's topic in About The Way
Tonto, Yes... you just conjured up about 50 million incidents in my brain. Man oh man... i'll have to think of the very first one and put it down here. You sure did strike a chord in me though. Never equated 'being humble' (that shut-up/put-up way of thinking) as shutting off your brain, but it is. Man oh man.. I got some real deep analysis to do. :( Thanks for bringing this up. -
For those who cannot stomach listening to LCM's drivel... I thought I'd type it out and take a look at what it was exactly he was saying... MY God .. than man has mastered the art of saying NOTHING, communicating NOTHING and talking about himself. (get me that barf bag quick) Here you go: (just thought i'd let you know that this was painful to listen to and write out!) God Bless you. Thank you. This is a great gathering. I’ve anticipated this with you and looking forward to having some fun in recognition of this accomplishment of the household of God. Getting this accomplished and done is truly a great credit to all of us – especially to our heavenly father who we of course, we are apart of that. Of course somebody has to believe and continue in that great work that Dr. Wierwille initiated and this is a great representation of that. So, it’s a real joy to be here. Often throughout the weeks of teaching and of course all the study and preparation and all the hours of work often, I thought of the verse, “My times re in thine hands.” Often that gave me real comfort and encouragement because when there were times where maybe in my head I thought I really ought to have studied more but just didn’t have the energy or the resolve. So I was able to do something else that would refresh my mind and it would invariably. I’d lean something in that and then there were times when I was just … I was amazed at my own energy, how many hours I could just stay my mind on the word and be able to work throughout a whole morning … take a little break, do it again throughout the rest of the day, comeback at night .. just the… Often thought of the scripture, blessed me a lot, encouraged me, “My times are in they hands.” Not only for most immediately, but how I just go to thinking… last week … I hadn’t even thought of this. But, Dr. Wierwille and I wee about the same age by the time he filmed the class. We figured it – he was about 51 I think, when he filmed the class. Of course, he’d been teaching it for years before that. And here … let’s see, I’m 37 (HAHAHAHAHA) I’m 46 – there ya go – 46 so ah… I thought again, “My times are in thine hands.” And this is the year where exactly half of my life now I’ve been in the The Way Ministry. (oooo, ooooh, oooo). I was 23 years old when I took the class and now I’m 46. So it’s an intriguing correlation. “My times are in thine hands.” And obviously, you don’t think much about that as you’re living and growing. But God sure is wonderful and ah… just real thankful. I don’t know that I could have done it a year previous to this or 2 years previous. Just continued to learn things, even right up as I taught. Several of the things of the session you heard I just learned today working the word on that word ZELAOS??? So, I know we’ve given our best and believing it will have the simplicity and depth and longevity that we want. At least ‘til – it lasts a year before we gotta’ do a new one…(HAHAHAHAHAH)…. Alright, we’ll enjoy some pizza.

Been sitting here pondering what will be my musical post??? hmmmmm???? <_< Then I looked outside and saw the most dreary day of the year so far... it's raining, it's snowing, it's gloomy, it's just plain YIKKKY :( So I got an idea Rain songs... there are a million of them ... but I picked two for your listening pleasure! This first one... is certainly bluesy... just like the weather outside is making me feel. This artist HERE needs no introduction I feel. She certainly was in a league all of her own. OK...this next one is an exciting one for me. This lady HERE I saw last summer at the Montréal Jazz Festival. She is from Texas and has more love and passion in her music than I can express. Her name is Ruthie Foster. When I saw her perform... I think I had a bit of a musical euphoric experience . I walked away changed forever. I know... I'm a strange one! Chatty's BACK!!!!!!!! Oh... smooth move there Kathy! ^_^

Wasway, Is that theme from a show that was about 2 cops?? Females?? One blond and one brunette?
-
OK... can't leave without posting a few songs. I'll continue with the Manhattan Transfer...and then let them to rest for all those who are just tolerating me here. This one HERE is a fun one... this arrangement is wild and all over the place. Amazing what they can do with those voices of theirs! And last but surely not least... this one has got to be my favourite. It is a beautiful work of art. It's an old standard recorded a million times but this is an amazing rendition. It's called A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square. It sounds a bit dated... but bare with it... it's amazing what chords they achieve. Not conventional by any means. Enjoy HERE. Nighty night

Oh my... My husband watched these videos tonight...we have been gasping... cringing and gasping again everytime we think of it. Those LCM shots and the adulation they (we) bestowed him. cringe...gasp... cringe... Give me a break... Howard and so forth reading all those 'praise be unto the MOG letters from the leadership on the field. OH MY GOD!! I remember sitting through many of those...chat sessions when the BOT would talk about their 'magnificient' accomplishments of the day. God all mighty... boring or what!! Just keep puffing boys... you might just implode yourselves and do everyone a favour! The blither of LCM.... oh my god.. he said NOTHING! Nothing at all....just filling air...dead air that is. I'm getting that overwhelming puking feeling again... I better go. Igotout... great post. Loved ... Way World = Fantasy World PERFECT! oh ya... leaders making themselves of great importance... doesn't the bible say something about that???

Ya!!!! What about your HIGHNESSES' $150 hightops he wore??? He seemed to have a different pair for every day of the week!! don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
YEAH MOONY!!! I'm glad you enjoyed that version...they are a very innovative group when it comes to their vocal arrangements! And yes... I AGREE Moony... too much cleaning can turn your life upside down!!
-
I just checked it again and it worked. HHHmmmmmmmmm???? Anyone else have the same problem with it? Let me know if you do... but of course I'll have NO idea what to do to fix it. Sowwy. :(
-
OK... I think I can reply but not sure... I will try! Here I go... First of all... after watching those videos... I FEEL like doing this -----> for about a week. Then... I feel like doing alot of this ----> And then some of this -----> And last but not least ALOT OF THIS -----> ok... I noticed in the video taken of when LCM spithead finish teaching the class, that he was greated by his daughter Leah and then he went over to Timothy and hugged him... BUT... He never looked in Donna's direction, nor kissed her... she quickly got behind him and did not walk with him. Leah did. What a mess. Forgot... wanted to say 2 things about all the footage of the grounds. HQ especially...talk about STERILE and LIFELESS! Oh God... and I used to think that was GODLINESS! The other things was as I watched the videos of the grounds and your commentary... I started imagining how WONDERFUL it would have been to see a streaker or someone run in front of your camera giving you the finger or something. Nothing personal...just thought it would have given us all a jolt into REALITY!

Moony, It's been so quiet around I'm starting to get worried :( Anyhow, I was thinking of posting some music to liven up the place. At first I wondered if I should continue you on my acapella trek I seem to be on at the moment. I started to search through my files thinking of the Manhattan Transfer since they are phenominal jazz vocalists when all of a sudden out popped this song. "OF COURSE! " I thought!!! MOONY!!! So Moony... HERE is YOUR song! Enjoy

Sudo, I got the Movie and the Song and the actor... (OK... I cheated...but otherwise, it was hopeless) Would have never have guessed it was him... but of course I was never a fan of his acting. Had problems believing his believability in roles. Now Shelley, she was a tremendous actress. I liked her. Never watched her much in her early roles such as the one above, but I loved her human quality in her acting. When I first read your above post about the gospel song being 'creepy' I thought you were talking about the Alison song I posted... I was going to say... WHAT!!!! How dare he say my song was creepy!!! OK... One more gospel tune...I couldn't help myself. Now this song has great and deep meaning to me. I discovered this song and this singer within a few years years of being ex-communicated from TWI, all the ones I thought were supposedly my closest of friends and even a sister and her family. When I heard this song HERE I knew God was with me again. Enjoy! :)

Sudo, Your beautiful Gospel Tune got me thinking of another movie that ends with a gospel song. The actress in this movie won Best Actress for her role in this movie in 1984. I've tried finding the song but haven't had any luck. The song was written by Charles Miles Austin and was sung many a time in my WAYDAZE. I particularly found this recording of this song absolutely moving. So, I thought I'd end this broadcasting day with this lush gospel song. This song HERE is sung by one of the most talented musicians around. Enjoy and sweet sleep. ps.. sudo thanks for the cute 'alalovesthissong linky thing.. made me giggle. )
