Goodmorning A little wake up music... HERE

Highway, No not pretentious at all. Yes, that was what I was talking about ... the cartoon strip. I wanted to pick your brain on what it was you thought was amazing about it!
-
Hiway, Interesting about Tin Tin. Growing up I attended french school and of course Tin Tin was one of the only french cartoons around. I used to watch them once in awhile on Saturday morning and always loved it when I could. They were halarious. Now, i'm very curious. What is it that made them in your opinion one of the greats. I'd love to know what it was that was so exceptional about this animation. I loved it as well...but didn't know why. Sudo, Couldn't open that link?
-
i knew the cartoon...could picture it in my mind...but i couldn't come up with the name. i used to watch it saturday mornings...but it came on more later in the morning... or even noon. yes, it was definitely not your 'bugs bunny' type animation, but i thought it was very well done and it kept my attention the character of Jonny (however it was spelt) reminded me of Tintin. Would love to hear your take on Tintin Highway. by the way, you're not rambling...cause you are informed. Rambling was LCM on a good day! The uninformed bafoon!

Bluzie, KNEW IT ON THE FIRST NOTE...i was a steely junkie for years. then came donald fagen on his own...sheeeshhh... hubby was just talking to me about going to see him. he's just come out with a new album. the wild thing about these guys was that they never went on tour. they were just studio musicians pretty much.

Found it.... the ultimate brass. I saw this man in october...he is certainly one of the greatest music educators of jazz today. his father ellis is playing the piano on this one. HERE

it has got the be the yukkiest day ever here :( so i must post this song HERE called Save It For A Rainy Day by the Jayhawks... from the album Rainy Day Music. and then... I must post this one HERE because this group hails from down under and they are in full swing summertime! <_<

Sushi, Thank you for sharing your song with us. I loved your mental patient analogy... i feel like that about music most days. Mr. Browne has such a rich longing in his voice and music... you gotta love that! I often refer to myself as a music junkie Why does he chose to not perform this song? And I didn't get the BOSM thingy?
-
Highway, I didn't want to assume... and thank you again. Wyatt Earp had no top lip? (that's about all I can contribute here) :( OK...I'll shut up now
-
Highway, Thank you! I'll take your comment about the music around here as a compliment!

OK...I'm figuring that the reason no one is responding here is because they have no flippin' idea what these Scots are singing about especially in the first song by Old Blind Dogs So Sudo... and for others who might want to know... here are the words This is all I can offer.... the rest ... well, is for you to decipher. I'm not a Gaelic specialist....I'll stick to french KINKARDINE LADS (traditional) A song from the Stonehaven area which celebrates illicitly distilled whisky. Those Scots sure know how to live! Come a' ye Kincardine lads And tak a dram wi me We'll ging doon tae Sandy's still And tak the barely bree Hi dum a doo durn a daddy o Hi dum a doo dum a daddy o Sandy rade his auld grey mare He rade tae break of day Sayin "Laddie, laddie , gyan yersel The gaugers are on their way." The gaugers they cam tae the hoose They went richt up the stair They searched the room, a' richt aroon But they fund nae bottles there They pu'd the blankets aff the bed They threw them on the flair Maggie she cam runnin' ben Sayin' "ye beggers get oot the door." Sandy Callum made the still He made it to a plan So it would stand away oot there And make the doubles strang

Scotsman....OK... I CANNOT RESIST.... HAPPY ROBBIE BURNS DAY EVERYONE!!!!! Well today January 25th is officially Robbie Burns Day.... I must continue on my Celtic quest here... And in honour of Robbie...I will now post 4 Scottish tunes. The first one is from a group called Old Blind Dogs... Just give a listen and you'll here that Scottish brogue come right through your speakers...it just brings a warm feeling right through me. HERE The next two songs are from a group also from the Isle of Scots. These twin brothers made it famous when their songs were used in movies ... especially a Disney filmed named Shrek. The Proclaimers are a sound all unto their own. I've even put a song here that is an old American favourite. HERE HERE And last but not least how can we celebrate Robbie Burns day without a good ole' fiddle tune. This fiddler Alasdair Fraser is one of the best fiddlers i've heard in long while. He and his cellist do a remarkable and unique job of capturing a sound that is all their own. HERE OK... I was torn between these two fiddle tunes... so I said...what the heck... I'm posting both HERE

Sudo, I'm not familiar with the original version of this song.. but I DO Roger! Like Moony...new it after the first 2 notes! My my...what a singer... what a WHISTLER!! Have you ever heard him whistle... he has a song called the African Whistler... absolutely amazing. Said he learnt it from the African Tribes in Kenya where he grew up. My favourite is Une Rose Pour Isabelle.... I remember going into the library for hours in high school and listening to that song over and over. OK... that's all : )
-
OK...thought I'd post some of their original stuff This one is called Consequence Free... HERE This next one is called Penelope... HERE And last but not least... Trois Navire de Blé...it's an old traditional from Newfoundland... and my favourite HERE
-
Chimin' in... Thought I'd post a few more celtic tunes... (ya' I'm still on that kick  ) Ok..this group I've mention many a time over the years...I've seen them a few times in concert and they are absolutely dynamic! They're Newfies and completely on the edge...they take old traditional Irish music and/or folklore Newfoundland tunes and turn them into the wildest songs! Hope you ENJOY THESE HERE
-
Chatty, Is that last song you posted by Emmy-Lou? Nice to see you Ted!
-
Wow, You guys are good!!!! Feel like such a fish outta water with this stuff! : (

Sudo, Thank you so much for letting me know how that song moved you. That is to me one of the highest compliments anyone could give me. Yes, celtic songs are sometimes very hard to figure out what they are saying. It's usually because of the accents that they are being sung with. Your celtic song was very cute by the way... HERE's another celtic song by the same artist. Actually speaking of celtic songs that are hard to understand. My husband said to me one day, "I don't like that song... they're singing about their Daddies in Heaven!" And being Waybrained still back then didn't think it was an 'appropriate' song. I'll play it and you can tell me what you think it means. But you must promise me to not look at the song title when it comes up since I don't have the program that hides the song titles. NO PEEKING

The first lady I thought of when someone (we won't mention who ) mentioned CELTIC...was Kate Rusby. I discovered her in a Chapters store... hovering over the Celtic section with the headphones on. I was in heaven. She has won tons of awards in Britain. She has a fear of flying, so has never ventured over here to North America. I guess I'll have to make a trip someday to England to see her. And for you men out there...she's as cute as a button. The first song HERE is called Radio Sweethearts. This one she sings with another woman called Kathryn Roberts. Such a beautiful waltze. This next one HERE is William and Davy. This song is about twin boys. It's cute. This one HERE is called Cowsong. I think it's so pretty. And last but surely not least this one HERE. It's a sweet acapella tune called Huntin' the Hare. (poop :( I just realized that this is not a complete file...sowwy :( ) OK...in that case I must add one more song ... this is my favourite... Botany Bay. HERE Enjoy. I have more...but will hold back.
