OH MY I'm soooooo jealous.... 3x's in one year! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh!!! Oh mygod.... John Mayer... he was just here the other day...and yes.. his 3 man blues band...has me quite curious as well. John...what a musician he is...he certainly is in a league of his own to say the least. He recorded a song on Herbie Hancock's new album... Possibilities... and it is a amazing! Check it out. Haven't read the rest of your posts.. gotta go and do so now. Glad you enjoyed Ruthie and it was a first for you... now that's amazing :o Check out her song...Got a Hole in my Pocket.... sweet
  2. ... I liked that show as much (if not more) for all of the nitwit characters that were on it... it was a nice respite during my temporary sojourn back into cannibas... Tomstrangeboy, ??
  3. Cool, this vivian thompson is an RCMP officer and you know what they say... ..they always get their man!!
  4. I realize that this thread has gotten into some serious discussions on all sorts of stuff.. But thought I'd answer the initial question. The only guy I knew in TWI that was some sort of theologian before TWI was Rev. Ross Tracy. He was a minister from another church...not sure which one now. ???

"I forgot what the subject was... has the little jumping frog from Canadia forgotten how to color her grey?" No, haven't gotten to the grey stage yet... well sorta', but I'm a red head.. so it's more that blondie thing... But seriously, the thing that I've forgotten how to do is post music here. There is this procedure and I think I threw out the paper that I had it written on. sigh...

Your 'little jumping frog' has completely forgotten how to do 'that' that you speak of... sigh :( Chatty .... loved that 'doo' you wish to have... but sorta' reminds me of the 'Elvira' look. But I would love to have that bod she is sporting!! Went to see Ruthie Foster on Monday evening...she's a blues/gospel singer from Texas. I saw her the for the first time at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2 year ago. She was moving... she came out on this huge stage on the streets of Montreal with 1,000's of people just her and her guitar filled the whole city it seemed. I think I actually had a genuine musical enlightment that day on that street. I was moved for days from what I heard. People asked me what was the Jazz Fest like and all I could talk about was Ruthie (and I went to see Pat Metheny while I was there too). So I finally got to see her on Monday in this very small venue in Toronto called 'Hugh's Room' and it was amazing. It was a dinning/entertaining venue ... and our table was stuck to the stage. Each time she got off the stage, we had to move our chairs for her to get off ... that's how close we were. I spoke to her after the concert and told her I had seen her perform in Montreal. She said, "You were there?" I said yes... She said, 'Wow, I came out on that stage, alone, and I was taken aback at all the people there. The sound man came out and said to me, Are you ok?' We chatted for awhile and I told her that after seeing her in concert, I went home and took my guitar out of the closet after 20 yrs. and started to seriously play. She just lit up and said, "Those are the stories I love to hear!" I think my next concert will be ... The Wailin' Jennys. 3 women with the most beautiful voices.

  9. Well... never saw any 3x5 cards... but i was read many things that were written about me in my file by JAL. upon my arrival back from LEAD... i was called into THE office and JAL told me that this was the worse LEAD appraisal he had ever read. It was said of me on that appraisal that I had lied to the leaders...because I told them I had to go to the washroom but in reality, it really was an excuse to sit down and rest. The second time I was read something from THE file was when it was discussed I should leave the corps. He read that this part written by my country coordinator saying that he (country coordinator) did NOT recommend me for the way corps. NEVER ONCE...EVER EVER EVER did this snake ever tell me this.. or was this even hinted at. HA!!!!!! This guy even gave me 50$ to help me with my Advance Class payment (which was a pre-requisite for entering the Way Corps). Maybe he believed that the girls he was screwing were better fit, since I never took him up on any of his advances. I'm in a scowly mood. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  10. OMG...what have we done? We've unleashed a monster!!!

Well... while you are checking out the alien on your front lawn...i'll tell you a little about the show. keb mo' (i want to thank you personally for introducing him to me John). Keb Mo'...what a sweet delight he was. He played about 10 different guitars throughout the whole show... and he was so warm and feeling with the audience. the pièce de résistance was when he got bonnie out on his encore to perform with him. they sat there ... and just enjoyed being together on stage. it's just such a delight to watch musicians who are not 'all about themselves'. I took some good pictures ... but they were on my 35 mm. sorry : ( bonnie was wonderful... she was so humbled to have been asked to perform at the jazz festival. she said... you know i'm more of a blues player really. but actually a good friend of mine said that all music is blues. gospel is just blues gone to church jazz is just blues gone to college and life is just blues put to music she is a slide queen and wears finger picks most of the time. also, her ability to sweet talk an audience is utmost amazing. she said that is what her mother and father gave her 'the joy of performing' and that is truly what she is ... a performer. she loves to interact with her audiences and is so freaken' humble. she kept saying how thankful she was that she didn't have to deal with flies in this beautiful concert hall because most concerts they play all summer are outdoors. and then... she sang one of my favourites... Let's Give em' Something to Talk About'...and she dedicated it to the girl who wrote the song Shirley Eikhart... who is a canadian... now... Shirley Eikhard grew up 3 houses down from my street. she went to school with my hubby and played in the folk club with him. when my family moved up north to Timmins for one year... the Eikhart's rented our house. it was delightful... and at the end.. a whole group of us were up dancing on the sides .. we just couldn't sit down ... in this beautiful posh auditorium...ya... you can dress her up but you certainly can't take her out!!! This was the same place we saw Winton Marsalis last October. so that's my little claim to fame and i'm sticking to it... :P

  18. Bliss, Thank you thank you thank you thank you ... You said EXACTLY what I was trying to convey with my little 'fingers down throat' thingy. put a smile on my face. : ) sky...wonderful story! it's a wonder (hey... maybe that's the phenomena that OM talked about???) we all lived to tell them! Reminds me of the time in 1977 we drove to a Heartbeat Festival in Albany. Six or eight of us in a car... with very bald tires because we didn't have money to buy new ones. We drove thru' the worst storm possible, icy conditions...and the road was a snowy blurr. I can't remember how long it actually took us to get there, but the trip would be a good 10 hrs. on a good day. So we arrive, only after loosing control on the road and landing in the ditch twice. We had to get a tow truck to pull us out each time. My sister, who was driving, was a complete wreck by the first, off in the ditch, incident. I remember driving in another car that we were caravaning with after the first off in the ditch fiasco. This car was also very old, and the lights on the car were always dimming as we were driving down the road. At one point, I looked at the driver... a very sweet 6th corps person and they said, "The car is overloading...the battery can't handle the load".... we had the lights, wipers, heater to the max, defroster fans ... you name it.. going at full blast and I guess the car just wasn't moving fast enough to keep up with the demands on the alternator??? (I'm no mechanic...and I'm sure it shows right about now). But, that is the only time I ever saw a car do this. There was this middle aged woman with us... a very boistrous type, who always spoke her mind. She hadn't yet taken the class yet (ya...you can figure that one out...she didn't last long in TWI). Well, we arrive at the place where we were staying...and this woman is at her wits end. We're all being so 'positive' and thanking God for all his wonderful works,... and she's non-stop ... OH MY GOD... that was the ride from he!! Then, this 6th corps woman who had been travelling with us... walks up to her and slaps her in the face. She never said another word. weird stuff for a 17 yr. old to witness!!!
  19. Tom StrangeBoy, You forgot to mention that the devil was interceding at every twist and turn to prevent you from reaching your destination...but YOU were believing...You pressed on toward the MARK of the High Calling... It's actually amazing what we'd do to avoid a screaming match from leadership isn't it? You made my day....I laughed so hard I could hardly breath. : ) .... if felt good.
  20. OM, "All such acts would only be covered if one had revelation to do so... " watch me as i try to insert my finger down my throat and hurl.
  21. my god... his egotism will never cease to amaze me :o
