Like you, I've been listening to Mayer for at least 4 yrs. His music never tires me, and I find his stuff invigorating. ACT 2... thank you thank you thank you. It means the world to me that I may have had an influence on someone, musically. I remember a little while back where I posted a Mayer song and it was not necessarily taken with any seriousness. So it's so nice to have someone else appreciate him as I do. Socks, Back to your post...wowza...there's alot there. Thanks for the blurb. I always learn so much as you express your thoughts about music and the way you choose to express it. It always opens my musical mind and I am able to understand music on a more involved level. MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE SONG ... (for right now) GRAVITY.... I just can't seem to get enough. I walk into my classroom with the cd in my purse...hoping that at some point in the day I'll be able, all on my own, have a chance to just listen on the class CD player. That's always a good day for me when I get to do that. True story.... I was getting my wallet out of my purse the other day and out pops out at the grocery check out, some random cd I had in there (it may have been John Mayer). Most women carry make-up, toiletteries, personal sundries... no, I carry CDS. : )

T-Bone, I missed this post of yours. My apologies. :( I'd have to say... ALL OF THEM!!! His earlier stuff (I'd say anything pre Heavier Things is a little more lighter, more accoustic) Heavier Things (hence the name) was his 'all electric' album. After HEAVIER THINGS...came the album he produced with the trio and now... Continuum... They are all wonderful and are all very pleasing to the ear. :P
  7. Ya I had that problem earlier... But it seems to be working well now. I'm using the Mac one... (even though I don't own a mac) the screen is larger and clearer. And ... I FINALLY sighted my first elephant I'm soooooo excited!!!

Mr. Music Man, ok... I'm sitting here... for way too long watching Mayer Videos... One video has a 'behind the scenes' little interview and one of his musicians (David the guitarist/vocalist) talks about the new album .... says... John has an older spirit musically... I must say that that is a very precise, unmistakable and succinct description of him. (Chatty I saved you the anguish of being first on the page )

Dear Socks, Yes his song Belief is amazing lyrically. When I first downloaded that song, I actually downloaded a version from the radio. This was something Mayer did before the album 'Continuum' actually was released. With every song he would explain what went on behind the tune and how is came about. This is what he said about Belief: "It's a really tricky one. Didn't think it was going to be on the record, but really, really, really faught. Don't think there was a harder faught song that I ever put on a record before. It's a really tricky topic ummm.... you write a song called Belief and you better be careful. It took me a long time to choose my words correctly (unlike the rest of my life). I ran into Ben Harper at dinner one night (actually the night I decided to finish this song) which is very kind of serendipidous and asked him would he play on it. And he really kinda' drove the song home for me. With him on it, now it is really, officially, really, really kinda' gritty. And thanks to Ben Harper, this is a song...called... Belief..."
  10. Just saw some huge bird of prey with a frog dangling from it's beak. I checked my handy dandy fact file... Could be Commom Buzzard Osprey African Fish Eagle European Kestrel It was dark, so it was hard to see. But you could certainly see the dangling legs of the frog! (sigh) Those frogs are asking for it I think...with all that noise they make... I'd be willing to put a few out of their misery!!
  11. Linda Z, There may be 2 kinds of antelope roaming around these parts. The ones I saw earlier today resembled the Waterbuk, but their colouring was different. Their colour stopped way up before their underbody and they were a touch speckled on their sides. That's what made me think it wasn't the Waterbuck since they are a solid colour. Even the related species such as The Red Lechwe and The Thomas's Kob did not match the ones that I saw today. Just call me Marlin Perkins from Mutual of Omaha's WILD KINGDOM... I'm killing myself laughing here!!!! If you ever met me ... I'm about the furthest thing from a Marlin you'd ever meet!!! It's just these darn Wildlife Fact Files. I've got cheat notes!!!
  12. so i lied... I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaackkkkkk.... I think these antelopy things I've been looking at this morning are actually IMPALAS. They are in the family of antelope and fit more the description of what I"ve seen then the Waterbuck. OK... bye bye
  13. OK... I'm stopping after this... I promise I'm watching a wildebeest roll around in the dirt...kicking up a ton of dust. I'm reading about this animals and this is what I found out: The wildebeest is an odd-looking animal. It has the head of an ox, the mane and tail of a horse, and the horns of a buffalo, but it is actually a kind of grazing antelope. The one I see here on the webcam is a what is called a "BLUE WILDEBEEST" There are 2 kinds. The Black and The Blue. The BLUE WILDEBEEST is found from Kenya to northern South Africa. The black are only found in South Africa... By the pictures and description this is definitely a blue one. Going to do my mantra now.
  14. Ya, but I'd get the seating arrangement all wrong!
  15. OK, I'm actually seeing a real live African Lint... stuck on the lens of the webcam And...has anyone tried to find the whereabouts of this Nkorho Pan? I did a couple of searches yesterday and came up with the Nkorho Pan Safari Lodge (or something to this effect) What I could make of it is that this Nkorho Pan is sitting in the middle of a game reserve in Kruger Park, South Africa. This is located at the North East end of South Africa on the borders of Mozambique and Zimbawbwe. Am I correct in this??? I also noticed yesterday as someone was manning the camera during the Cape Buffalo drinking show (sorry Linda Z... you were right...the thing is manned at times) that there were a few houses not far in the background. When the person manning the camera (probably remotely) panned to the left of the watering hole you could see very clearly a couple of houses. They were pretty close (probably some 200 feet away). Anyone else see this?
  16. I have this great binder (actually 2) called Wildlife Fact File They have pictures with places of habitat and lots of details ... everytime I see something... I pick this thing up and find the picture... It's amazing to have it happening right in front of you and finding it in the book all at the same time... I think I'm getting WAAAAYYYYY too excited for one person!!! oh... my daughter just told me she saw Waterbuck today as well. These are Gazelle looking animals with spirally type horns ok...just saw a COMMON SANDPIPER... Ok... i'm shutting up now Breath...Breath....Breath....
  17. OH MY... there are about 100 of them...so many i can't count!!! back to my 12 step program these are Cape Buffalo and the birds that were feeding on them are called OXPECKERS (really)
  18. My 10 yr. just started to cry and say...I don't want to go to bed.... I won't get to see Africa in the daylight. OK, LindaZ... I think those foxes you speak of are actually HYENAS. Saw a bunch of them earlier this evening. We've also seen Waterbuffalo earlier on today. and I love listening to the sounds of those crickets, crazy sounding frogs and whatever else hangs around that place. My speakers are in the kitchen, so I find myself making supper or whatever to the most soothing sounds... Also, we're pretty sure that this camera is not manned by any one person, but rather all motion sensed. OK...gotta go back .... I think i'm going to have to start the first AFRICAM 12 step program...
  19. oK... This is just as addictive as YOUTUBE.... my kids are absolutely glued to the monitor.... we've seen Hare Antelope Many Vervet Monkeys 10 Zebras Birds (size of seagulls)with a black ring around their neck 16 Wildebeests This is by far the coolest thing!!!!
  20. My kids are freaked out!!! So Far antelopes and a rabbit and lots of bugs... oh an those frogs...wowza...what a sound! Thanks Greasy Tech... : )

Mr. Music, OK... I"m dying here... You must go and watch the John Mayer video of Toronto..posted by FunkyMonky83 doing WHY GEORGIA PART I ok...as you begin to watch the video...this big burley security guard shows up... and starts harassing this poor guy in the audience. I'm right behind the guy he is harassing. Now the wacky thing was this. This security guy told this guy he couldn't take pictures with his camera. He had the exact same camera as me except his was a digital. So the security guy says...NO PICTURES. NOW.... it's an OPEN free concert in a public place. So this guy says...what??? It's a free concert. I'm in the open here??? The security guard was a NAZI!!! So this guy just kept taking pictures and the security guy came back again...and then the guy with the camera starts arguing again. Then, he looks at the security guard and says... here... I'll take a pic of you (security guard) and does. It was halarious! Then he says... Can I take a picture of a bird? So he points his camera up and takes a picture of the sky. So here I was right behind with my camera. I just kept taking pictures when the NAZI wasn't looking. At one point I took a picture of the big screen which then my camera was up and exposed. The security guard came running and says.. NO NO NO pictures. I said ... why not? he said... cause that's a professional camera. So I said... but i took a picture of the big screen? NOT of John Mayer himself. He just kept arguing. So then he left...and I just kept clicking! Another ala moment brought to you by YouTube!

Mr. Music, I started to watch that video...wonderful...except on the recorded version...it is Robbie McIntosh (I think that's his name??) who does much of the these subtle licks on the song. Anywho... The coolest thing... I started to scroll down on YouTube to see other video's of Mayer...and boom...there are tons of video's from the concert I just went to in Toronto. I swear... I can probably see the back of my head in some shots. This person was probably right beside or behind me. I've sent pics to Chatty...you will see when she posts the pics that they are taken at the very same angle as the video... This is WILD!!! Thanks music man ...

I can't seem to get enough of those subtle guitar licks ... those absence of notes drive me bonkers... so soooooooooooooooooooooooothinnnnnnnnnnnnnngggg!!!
