Hello all guitar heads and headesses!!! I've been away I know ( ) and I apogize for my absenteeism... there is NO EXCUSE really when it comes THE guitar thread... And I will confess... I have not had time to catch up on my reading here... But I wanted to completely derail your dobro topic at this moment... (chatty.. please forgive) and say... I'm listening to CHRISTMAS music and I love James Taylor's album... I hadn't listened to it yet.. but it is by far a real touch of James magic. and... of course...nothing can touch Vince Guaraldi's 'Charlie Brown Christmas' please... you may return to your regularly scheduled program. Saw a performer called James Keelaghan on Saturday night... He had a wonderful instrumentalist playing with him. She played the Fidola... as she called it.... It was a Viola with a fifth string...an E string. Mr. Music Man.. you should have heard the sound she got outta this thing. I spoke to her afterwards... she said she came up with the idea on her own...unbeknownst to her at the time there were other FIDOLAS in existance in the world. She says there are about 10 of them in the world that she knows of. : )
  13. Ahhh this is amazing.. all this and just in time for HO HO RELO / HO HO FAMILY HOUSEHOLD TIME / HAPPY HOUSEHOLD CELEBRATION... what ever the He!! it was called!!! what a stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid place to be.

Chatty, "Ain't that cool how you can see that line like that." I think it's amazing how Socks can put the whole picture together and verbalize it to boot!!!! Sorta' sitting on the edge of GENIUS at times... I'm so humbled when I get to read this stuff and learn. I feel like I'm this barely walking and talking neophyte who is sitting in the middle of some master class and trying to hold on to a pencil so I can take notes. I just know one thing... I feel the music and that is what inspires me. I feel a certain something that goes so deep deep into my soul that it is unexplainable...like trying to explain LOVE and what it does to you when you're in it. Music has that same effect. It electrifies and ignites something deeply raw and moving. I search for this when I listen (subconciously) and when it happens, it's worth the wait and the journey when I get there.

This has got to be the weirdest thing ever seeing Chatty and PB connecting or re-connecting in these past few posts... When I first came to GS and befriended Chatty we got on like 2 peas in a pod... we'd chat away for hours... the usual girl thing! At this time PB and my sister were still in TWI and had broken ties with family members such as TWI encouraged. To say the least, I hadn't seen them in a quite a while. One day, Chatty tells me she had attended a meeting (the one that they speak of above), and she told me she had met a 'Canadian' couple. She explained to me that they had sung and the husband played guitar. I sat there starring at my screen not believing what I was reading... she had spoken to my sister and even been invited to come to Canada boating. So here I sat, 500 miles away, chatting with someone I have never met, who now had met my sister. It had to be the strangest thing ever ??? It was only months later that my sister called and announced that they had left TWI. They came over shortly after this and all was rekindled. Chatty you're in my life wether you like it or not ... and now seeing you and PB carrying on here has to be the most bizarro thing... but it's a good bizarro! BTW, Chatty.... was that YOU there at the TOP of the page posting??? :o

Chatty, I nearly posted that video earlier when I posted some Alison Krauss videos. She is absolutely amazing!!! When she performed this song the last time I saw her in concert, she performed it with only her and Ron Block accompanying her. There was only one spot light on her, her alone on the stage. The tears ran down my face. It was sooooo moving. Ron Block is a very amazing individual to write songs such as these. She also mentioned that this song was her all time favourite song. This song got me through some dark times. Talking about guitars... Jerry Douglas. No doubt one the greatest slide guitar players ever. He plays with Union Station. couldn't find a video of Palm of Your Hand by Ron Block, but found lyrics. Palm of Your Hands (Ron Block) If I could have the world and all it owns A thousand kingdoms, a thousand thrones If all the earth were mine to hold With wealth my only goal I'd spend my gold on selfish things Without the love that Your life brings Just a little bit more is all I'd need 'Til life was torn from me I'd rather be in the palm of Your hand Though rich or poor I may be Faith can see right through the circumstance Sees the forest in spite of the trees Your grace provides for me If I should walk the streets no place to sleep No faith in promises You keep I'd have no way to buy my bread With a bottle for my bed But if I trust the One who died for me Who shed His blood to set me free If I live my life to trust in You Your grace will see me through I'd rather be in the palm of Your hand Though rich or poor I may be Faith can see right through the circumstance Sees the forest in spite of the trees If I could have the world If I could have the world and all it owns Enjoy.

Pretty sure he left Polar Bear.... a few years back. I know a friend of mine sponsored him and his wife in the corps when they were told they had to go back in res or else be dropped. So they went into the Family Corps...but I don't think they lasted more than 1/2 a year if that. But I will agree with you... he was and I'm sure still is a very fine musician. A very nice guy too.
