  1. Hammie... ha ha ha... Free At Last, OH My... loved the movie though! I'm sure this was during John Nash's days before meds??? OUTandABOUT.... That pretty much sums it up for me! OK... HATED THE GNATS. These little fly like insects would start to show up after about a few days into corps week... all over your food, your face YIK YIK YIK. HATED THE HEAT. OH MY... I would sit there and wonder 'why are these people walking around in this heat? This is unnatural. They should be finding shelter. I'm a northerner...so I think my thick blood was just boiling over most of the time. THE 'IMPORTANT' PEOPLE ... flaunting their supposed importantness. THE CUSHMAN FELLOWSHIP... I attended 16 ROAs... NEVER ONCE GOT ASKED... Hey.. do you need a lift? THE FOOD LINE-UPS in the heat to get a drink...only to turn right around after guzzling your drink to stand in line for another. I stayed in a tent my first year. A pop-up made for 1 with 3 of us squished inside... Damp, wet, cold... YIK YIK YIK! That was 1976 and they had it at these fair grounds. All the tents were in the middle of the race track. The race track was covered with this black soot to keep the dust down during the horse races. You can just imagine what everything looked like after 5 days. I was filthy... black feet, clothes... tent was covered in this stuff. OH MY... i BETTER STOP... feel like i want to jump off a bridge~ After that, I did everything and anything to NOT sleep in a tent again. Stayed in I.O. sleeping tents, hotels, staff homes, and RV once. THE SHOWER TENTS... stand in line... sweaty, dirty, hot, go get a shower, hot, sweaty, get out only to stand in line again for another shower. BEING ALL DRESSED UP .... walking in corn fields and dirt roads. (something desperately wrong with this picture) HATED THE MANDATORY 11:00 AM FELLOWSHIPS every day Well that pretty much sums it up for me! God, I had to be brainwashed to be willing to subject myself to that year after year! Scary. ONE THING I DID LIKE... finding old friends with whom I could sit and have a good WAY BASH session with!!

Yup... miller i was doing the same a few posts ago... Man...this Norah album...very different. I had read a little on AMG site about the album. It certainly is a NORAH album... it highlights her... as a soloist ... and not NORAH and her Handsome Band so much...but it's all very tastefully done...just different! This is called Rosie's Lullaby from this album... mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Sockster, Wonderful link on Muddy Waters and the harp player. What year do you think that was? I loved the 'doo' the harpist was sporting. Definitely had that 'beatknik' look!!! Found this thought it was cool T-Bone Walker. Most interesting way to hold the guitar I must say! Canned Heat... oh my...what were these guys on??? Intense drugs I assume. But GREAT to watch. When I first starting watching this video I thought the bass player to the left of the lead singer was you Socks. :o And... can someone tell me ... the big guy at the back with the long hair and beard...what is it exactly he does??? besides jump up and down??? ooops... i just noticed he's in front of a keyboard... that's it... he's the keyboardist... duh!

Jonny, The very first guitar I owned was an Ovation. Now this was some 30 yrs ago. I didn't like it at all... it wouldn't stay in tune... the neck was warped I think. So, I sold it and bought a wooden-body guitar. I always thought there was no comparison with a wooden body to a fiberglass one. A good "Wooden" body just seem to have a warmer sound all-round. It's just a personal thing I think. It's like well... you like Levi's jeans cause they fit you better but an other might like Bluenotes brand.

Shell, yes. husband isn't very happy with me at times. i have tried to change it... really i have. oh unlike many here.. i hate wearing socks. I wear them only til april and then it's off they go.. and i hold off as long as i can ... sometimes til end of november. I feel my feet are way too hot in socks. And if slippers are worn in the winter ... they cannot be worn with socks. Way too hot!

Mr. Music Man... That is halarious. My dad hums all the time but only when he's working in his workshop or building something around the house... he says sometimes it drives him nuts but has a hard time stopping. His hums are more a windy 1/2 hum sound. I wear my watch on the my right arm but only because when I first started wearing a watch at 14 yrs. I was told that the watch is worn on the left hand. I IMMEDIATELY decided... NOT FOR ME... I"m gonna wear it on the right. It was weird, awkward, and uncomfortable to try and put my watchband on with my left hand but I did it :D Now, I can't put it on with my right hand if I had to, even though I am right handed. I can barely touch anything in the winter time that is metal. I get shocks all the time. I open car doors with my sleeves over my hands. I leave all the drawers open on my dresser and all the cupboard doors in the kitchen. All you tidy people would freak. I moan when i floss my teeth... it just feels so good...

Hey... I wanna be on the top of page 100... please please please! POOP <_< (I was even gonna promise no more 'fiddle' posts) double poop :(
  22. Rocky, Walter J.'s mom was Naomi Wierwille. Naomi married Harry Wierwille, but Walter was her son (and I believe her only child) from her previous marriage. I believe she was a widow when she met Harry. I spoke to Naomi after Walter was kicked out... she was terribly distrot about the whole thing.
  23. Bump you have talked alot about why people are here on gs and their reasons for going on about the past my question for you ... why are you here on gs?

Wow... Well Mr. Music Man you made my day too!! I must have listened to about 10 pages of fiddle videos yesterday...trying to find the right one to post. That video was the ONLY one that stood out to me. John is an excellent violinist and you can certainly see his classical training come through. His playing is impeccable. It's one thing to play a fast tune and make a million notes, but it's another thing to play a slow tune and make every note sing. Bravo John. Cool to hear of your connections Mr. Music Man... and to hear that these people have done so well in with their abilities and gifts.

Socks, Wow.. I like this Madi Haskell....nice nice nice. I went and checked out her gig dates.... I was amazed how many gigs she did just around here. THEN, I checked out her bio and BINGO... she's local... duh! But thanks for pointing her out.. I'll certainly try to catch her around. LOVELY SOUND... MR. Music Man, (NOW EVERYONE COVER YOUR EARS...I'M ABOUT TO POST ANOTHER FIDDLE LINK ) I searched Fiddle on You tube and spent way too much time listening to fiddle tunes... and this one was as sweet as ever. What a melody! OK.... OH MY.... Gillian Welch and Old Crow Medicine Show ......... I'm sure this will delight certain ears... (maybe) but to me...it's different and interesting and lush and delightful ... The Weight
