My Penn State Nittany Lion football team...JoPa and all...are caught in the middle of this last day. If the Tigers lose to Kansas City and the Twins beat the White Sox, the Nittany Lions play the Gophers in the Metrodome next Saturday, because the Twins will open the playoffs at home this week and leave the dome free on Saturday. Otherwise, the Twins are the wild card and play at home on the weekend, moving the football game to Nov. 25th.

Yea...anbd dont blame the rest of us....you all went over 5 days without a post!!!!!
-
Maybe this is a dumb qusetion, but is that you on the clip? It sounds nice either way.
-
Groucho, so far all you have is pastries and coffee. See what you missed?
-
I was invited in once at Emporia(8th corps) when I was downstairs by myself, performing my duties as the non coffee drinking master of the coffe crew. Turns out he had a leftover pastry he gave me. I sat down and ate it while he sat further back working quietly. It was rather tasty as I remember...of course I would always go for the extra bite in the corps...like singing for an extra sandwich at the TX farm, or my midnight solo pantry raid at HQ a couple years later. Neither one of us said anything after I sat down, and I left quietly to contunie my work.

I need to make one more post today.Good job Pegger, we have the 9th in fourth place now. And you are aollowed to post on this 6th corps thread because we knew them so well. I dont cheat by posting on a lot of stray threads just to drive them down. We can let them sink of their own accord.

Just some thoughts I didnt want to wait too much on, so we can let this thread settle. Shell...thanks for the wonderful thought and all your wonderful thoughts over the years. Oak...I suppose brother is appropriate...especially since you are one of the couple GSers I have personally met...post TWI anyway. Bow...Havent has as much communication with you but know you through your posts and taking a little time to express your wishes really means something. Wacky...don't know about being good but with you around I am inspired...I remember a certain special gift I once got. OFM dunno about the best one yet but that would be important. Thanks for your thoughts as well. Psalmie...Dont worry, I landed on a good spot, not my head. And I really hope YOUR life is happy! TOW...Thanks for the time and thought. I have always wished I could know people like you and Bow a little better. Suda...you have really been a prolific poster lately and one to be enjoyed. Yes, I would like a perfect day. Coolchef...Amen! I want them to get better too. Plan on having a bunch more heh heh. Belle...Thanks for making my day bright. Keep it up to all. Use your talent for that.

Thanks everyone. I think I will say some more specific thanks later. Right now I am thinking of how that posting of the picture of old Wrigley Field in L.A. on the baseball thread...where I watched the Angels play in their first year...already in double digit age...makes me think of how long I have been around. Or the companion picture of baseball in the Coliseum...which of course wasnt designed for it. Or the fact that I went to Disneyland the year it opened and remember it. On the other hand, the head football coach at the college I went to was an assistant coach there before I was born...and he is still there...so I can't be that old. Or the 92 year old WWII veteran I e-mailed (I'm an amateur WWII freak whose parents were both in the navy during it) who is still going strong. If Joe and Paul can still find a life at their ages, so can this child. besides, I know I am not the oldest at GS. If we go just by the posted birthdates.... HEY PSALMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hah hah hah hah

I'll let the 9th stay on top much of the time...but not with my name on the last post.
-
A record??? over 5 days...122 hours....without any posts on this thread. Maybe you all are getting more humble.

There is something I find wasteful about big league baseball that, as an oldie (heh heh) I know didnt use to be the case. Every time a ball so much as grazes the dirt, it seems it is out of there. I know there are tons of money being exchanged in the game, but is the performance of the game affected that much by the blemish caused by one little scrape with the dirt? I mean, a pitch barely touches the dirt, and if there is no one on, the catcher doesnt even bother looking back...he just sticks his arm back to exchange the ball. If there is someone on, of course, he has to check to be sure time is out. In a kids game we can usually survive on two or three baseballs. Once in a while, I decide one is getting so bad is has to be tossed. BUt every time it grazes the dirt? If I did that, our association's budget would go down the tubes...we dont pay our kids...or umpires...like that. Naturally I keep one eye on fould hit out of play to be sure someone is chasing...and bringing them back.

I will nominally root for the Dodgers...and for the Twins whose territory I am in. My favorite team, the Indians, has been long gone. Simon was giving me a hard time about them last summer, so I have stayed quiet to avoid giving him ammunition!!

Late September babies grow up to be such balanced people...able to fend of that mind control... Hope it was super.

Actually. to go back to the opening post on this thread, I don't think Walter Martin's book ever had much if any mention of TWI. Dunno if the degree thing had anything to do with that or not.
-
As usual...a reasonable statement from Groucho. I know why I didnt become a lawyer (like my dad). At least in the weather business you can sometimes make good excuses for not being damn sure... I said sometimes.
-
Yea they were another big group. I mean BIG. 1975-77 the medwows were really thick. Anyone remember Ron Berg?
-
Trying to think of a reason to but in on this thread, as long as we are keeping the 9th in third place. Obviouly your back failed to kill you. :) Really, I thought of a couple of 6th corpse who I remember well but havent heard any post TWI word about or even mentioned...Bob Mirabito and Larry Romaine. Anyone know then in recent years?
-
Not right away, but not too long after. I didnt live in CA after about age 5, but I went back for summer visits. To tell the truth, I havent been following things that closely lately and wasnt sure ole Vinny was till around. But, then, the current head football coach at the college I attended was an assistant coach there before I was born. If Vinnie and Joe are still around, I can't be too old...yet. BTW, I saw the Los Angeles Angels play during their first year at Wrigley Field...yes, there once was a Wrigley Field in Los Angeles. I do remember that short left field. Just as impressive to me was the vast expanse beyond the right field fence. There was 1959 when my two teams (Dodgers and Indians) almost made it to the sreies. (Yes, Simon, I am still loyal to the Tribe). The Indians got beat out by the White Sox, who in turn were taken by the Dodgers.

Another had to forget personality from my brief HQ time in the fall of 1979. We had some decent softball and football games...mostly softball I think...involving him. Yes, softball in the fall.

It is actually Schneider...he has his own "binel center" website in German and English. He was another one, besides the Jodi you brought up, who besides the first residence year at Emporia, was also with me at HQ in the fall of 1979. -
That's why I was talking before about the humble 8th. I gotta be honest, we never were really that humble. We are about as humble as a pair of IRS agents. But...in contrast with you all....
