I got a private answer but no forum replies when I posted my Phil Colvin request a few years ago; my unanswered quest is on page 13 of this forum now. Subsequently I got one e-mail from him, but that was all. Otherwise, you knew him later than I did; my association was at Indy and then the 8th corps back in the mid to late 70s. We were a lightbearer pair in Durant OK. On the TX farm we sang a duet to split an extra sandwich at one lunch.

I lost 100 pounds once. I was trying to carry four 25 pound sacks of Kentucky Fried Chicken flour up the stairs to the storeroom of the Gino's where I worked during my WOW year in Philly 1978-79. Didn't quite make it. And I hope DB doesnt ask for his hat back. He and Simon were both at HQ when I had my LEAD experience and lost it.

Last night made it 28 straight to set a new pro football win streak record. beat Omaha 33-19. They were trailing until the last play of the third quarter.

Fine, it's settled! It doesnt matter what the doctrine is; whether they keep what VPW taught or reject it, as there are large samples of both among ex-Way people, and others in between. But the doctrine of my offshoot involves FAITH, which you seem a little short on. I dont' want that to drive a Wedge between us, though. It looks like you are spending too much time these days in the book of James.
-
Evidently you do enough to point out your disagreement...but if that disagreement reflects a definition of an offshoot that is generally acccepted on GS, so be it...as long as we all know how we are defining it. Anyway, in that case, I might be able to get some ex TWI people to join my Cleveland Indians worship group...starting no doubt with Linda!!!
-
Just curious, what makes this an "offshoot"??? I assume it is not just because the person who starts/runs the groups was once involved with TWI. I mean, for better or for worse, we do have quite a spectrum of current religious persuasions among ex TWI people, including some who say they do not accept the Bible. If I started a group based on Cleveland Indians worship (They've been my team for over 50 years since my days in northern OH) I'm sure it would hardly be an "offshoot". I was under the impression that when we talk about offshoots, we refer to people who adhere to a significant part of what was taught in TWI. This doesnt sound like that at all. But maybe I'm missing something; with a history of objectivity, Linda always deserves the benefit of the doubt IMO. just some very minor edits...I have a history of little typos when I go too fast.

Anyone remember Sandy Koufax's perfect game? It was against the Cubs. The Dodgers themselves got only one hit and one run...the run came in the 5th and the hit came in the 7th inning. Clostest thing to a double no hitter there ever was I guess, in the majors anyway.

This would'nt be the same DB whose hat I lost on LEAD during the fall of 1979, would it? I referenced this event on the Bruce Powalski friend tracker thread. BTW,I was waiting to see how long this thread woul mire in 7th place. Over a week without a post.

RUM!!!!! Get your *** back here!!!! (No, my initials are not GW.)

Just made it 27 straight to tie the win streak record for any pro football team. I know, the higher ups ignore this level, but I betchya the Storm could compete with a lot of arena teams. What amazes me is why we still have out MVP quarterback Terrance Bryant...as the opposing Lexington coach said after last years title game, he should be playing at a higher level.

Ive been through part of this before, but here are the Big League parks Ive seen games at... I do believe the New Orleans area was where Steve and Teresa (Wilson) got together. Teresa was at Indy for a while and I knew here borth there and when she was at Emporia in her last year with the 6th corps while I was there with the 8th. I remember getting a letter from her about the "man of her dreams", I think it was during my interim year as a Philly WOW. Of course it has lasted; at least I was in touch with her very briefly a few (4 or 5) years ago. -
No kidding; I have head it used very often, including in my Methodist background from many years ago. And, checking out the terminology, on th prayer group web page of the Sanlando UMC in Florida, they refer to the group meeting each Tuesday morning, "lifting up all prayer concerns starting at 10 am." Waysider refers to TWI "denigrading" others for using phrases not found word for word in the Bible, but then doing the same thing. Perhaps a very valid point. But I think use of the phrase itself is just another example of something used often in TWI which by no means started there. I see nothing phony at all with its use.

I was wondering if Tom might go silent after my last post. :)

Don't worry, Psalmie, my wife doesnt like BBQ so we won't eat at Famous Dave's tonight ( We gotta eat out for our 22nd today).

I guess they didn't come around enough against my Indians last two days. Sammy hits two and the Tribe still winds easily. A bit ironic to me, since the only team that I ever called my favorite, other than Cleveland, was the Washington Senators for a few years, when I lived there. But we got Short changed on that franchise. The Dodgers were close with this CA native for a long time, but never quite made it to the top with me.

I don't think I'm picking on her as long as I stay away from the local barbeque places!

Five games into the new season...the first four on the road...The Storm is still unbeaten,,,25 straight now. First home game sold out...arena only hold 5 thousand. The swamped billings 51-18; Billings was the champ last year of the NIFL...the league the Storm used to be in.

Q: When may i share the secret family recipe? A: When pigs fly. Maybe I'm the last one to see this, but somehow that answer makes me think of someone here...now who could it be??? P.S. Not only the answer, but what they show at the end...

I think she was 6th corps, right? My first "corps branch" leader that fall of 1977. We called ourselves the "Thoroughbreds" as I recall...
-
I should know that, since I know he had instrumental talents, but I dont remember for sure.

I wasn't about to make by 1500th post on the 9th corps thread. Not even if nobody cares (apparently not), and not even if I'm the only one who ever posts here anymore (apparently).

Tax day just passed; made me think of my fellow taxman from our HQ skit. lurks around here a lot. Face it, you all are just losing it...not like anyone was itching to push you down when you go 5 days between posts.

Back down to fourth on the list for the vaunted 9th.

I'll say he ran well. We had a touch football game that year in Phily. Ed was the opposing QB but he didnt pass much. he was very tough to catch. Thanks David. Yea, I did pretty well on memorizing scripture.
