I sure would like to see her be able to give her account to the masses. Kristen's account is a simple, non bitter telling of her experience that IMO can convince people like no lecture can. Of course I also would like very much to see the interview myself, and I figure Kristen and/or Paw will let us know, since they did on the original plan. But I don't really need to see it to the extent that I am already convinced. Geez, I'd like to go on myself and verify some things about TWI that she writes about, but she certainly does not need me to tell her story. However, I'm with you; I hope Fox gets it worked out. In the 2nd interview with Paw, she talks about giving her account being a healing process for her. So, if that's all it comes to, that's terrific.

Happy birthday again...if I may be allowed to restart last years thread!

Sure does, and is. Your turn!

I still remember seeing it as a kid in the old Castamba Theatre in Shelby OH...the theatre scene was a real killer...had everyone looking back and up at the projection booth. basically the same thing happened at the showing of "The Tingler"...when they said "the Tingler is loose in the theatre...don't run but scream...scream for your lives..." of course screaming was the only thing that could disable the tingler.

Not only that, but since this discussion got spread out a little from its original post. I want to use that to point out a very important difference. It is well known that a child cannot legally give consent to sexual acts. but an adult can. Therefore, if an adult is charged with the rape of another adult, the prosecution has to prove not only that the act happened, but that the victim did not give consent. Think of yourself as a skillful attorney concerned only with getting the best results for your client, who (unless the client has to have a court-appointed attorney I guess) is paying you to do just that... i.e keep your client out of jail and keep him from being labeled as a sex offender. Doing anything you can to cast doubt that you client shoulders all the responsibility will mean exposing or even manufacturing (and magnifying) any shortcomings the victim might have. But more importantly, if the woman was not physically coerced into the act, you would surely seize on that. The prosecution would have to PROVE that there was coercion, and that becomes some task, even if some of us who were in TWI can understand. Who want to go through having their life torn apart and exposed to put the rapist in jail, much less if the chance of doing so are nil? Hard? I can't imagine how hard it is.

"When you get to be older, there isn't a lot left to be frightened of." "Now there's nothing to be nervous about. I've flown thousands of miles and I can tell you it's a lot safer than crossing the street!" "This time, do me one favor. If your boss says two and two is six, agree with him." The first two quotes are from an oscar winning performance in this movie. The third quote is from an oscar nominated performance, same category, same movie. "The instruction book said that was impossible!" "That's one nice thing about the 707. She can do everything but read." "You chickened out on me! I told you I wanted all the power you got!" "Full throttle and this plane would be standing on its nose." "You might fly these things but I take them apart and put them back together again. If you had any guts we'd be on the runway by now." "You felt it vibrating? Another 10 seconds and we'd have had structural damage." "Who do ya think you're talking to, some kid that fixes bicycles? I know every inch of the 707! Take the wings off this and you could use it as a TANK! This plane is built to withstand anything... except a bad pilot." "You might tell your mechanic that I've got three million miles in the air." "And two and a half feet into the ground."

Even better than the year BEFORE you were born?? I missed it because I was busy moving daughter and boyfriend yesterday; so happy day after!
-
Well I guess I have missed it...can you ( or Simon) give a more complete description of the act? Otherwise, I haven't found anything in the rules about being weird; though at the kids level, we do frown on deliberate distractions.

Ya know, while I too can lay no claim to real emotional attachment, to me (am I the only one?), from watching games on TV, the tradition took almost as much of a hit on the renovation as it does with the current ending. As an old Senator fan, I can remember Frank Howard hitting a 440 to 450 shot to dead center that was caught for an out. And outfielders chasing balls around the monuments.

I wish I were sitting in the front row at Wrigley...I'd like to grab at some of those fouls.......

How about "The Natural" ? This baseball umpire hasnt' seen all that many baseball movies, and it sure doesn't sound like the Bad news bears or Major League.

Thanks, Belle!!!Just don't credit me with two in the same year!!!

I'll mention Kristen long enough to note that this is exactly the situation that she lives in her account of abuse. I get the feeling from her account that the fear and shame is not only from what others may think...or do, but of being forced to live the abuse all over again. Just by telling about it, let alone being forced to relive every little detail and having every possible little sin, real or not, magnified in court or elsewhere. But Kristen didn't write to pretend that she was the only victim of abuse who has had to go through what potato is describing. And of course what she lived is not limited by any means to TWI followers. I would like to hear WHY it is an easy thing to do from anyone who thinks it is. I would at least listen to such an explanation, but anyone who mocks the difficulty of walkign away has the sensitivity of rough sandpaper IMO. Oh, and potato, when you posted some months or a year ago, I don't remember exactly when, I expressed some skepticism at some abuse you went through because you wouldn't reveal every little detail. For that I'm sorry. And Ex cathedra, thanks for the little lesson on abuse in chat, it helps me understand this situation better as well.

Happy birthday!!! I don't know what it's like where you live, but if you were here, a lot of the stores start their senior discounts at the age you just reached, assuming your profile is right. So go for it; I have. Come to think of it, with our current budget, I am not even insulted too much when (as has happened) a reastaurant gives my a senior discount without me asking when their discount starts at 60!

Thanks Shell...gee, Waydale seems a long time ago already. But someone who seems special after a few months seems more special after several years. Rummy, I was glad when you came on that you remembered, even though I beat you out on remembering some details. And speaking of Waydale, I remember years ago when Groucho asked me in chat if i ever knew you and I told him. Hap, I can actually relate or analogize a lot of the joys and sorrows of life to baseball. I can do the same for bridge, but i wonder if even one other person on GS knows that game. RG, mine was no secret...Shell got going and you posted before midnight; but mine has been mentioned on the bottom all day dince then. You seem to make a special effort to make birthdays better, and you have for me.

Hey, Happy Birthday!!! I didn't see it; you must keep it hidden from the world, but Exie found out! Good for her! I won't ask which one...but will wish for many good ones ahead. Your profile says 4/1/1909, which is OBVIOUSLY incorrect!!

I'm still around, but without the tiniest inkling, I am guessing it is one I never saw.
-
I wasn't trying to stump George, I really thought I was giving it away to him. meanwhile, I was wondering where everyone else was. I mean, like I said, this was hardly an obscure movie.
-
yea, George must not've seen it, or not seen it enough. Your turn!!!

You're still a young one!!!!!!!!!!!! Can somebody help me out and get Garth a wonderful cake???

And how about the coffee exec who was caught embezzling? That was grounds for dismissal.

Well, I'm going to be pretty neutral in October. If I get a chance to watch anything, I'll be watching just for good baseball. I wonder what it is liked to be rammed in the mask by a major league foul ball off a major league fastball? Of course, I get hit lots of times calling the kids games, because, of course, the catchers are still learning.
